Country Bar

Country Bar

When the park first re-opened after the war, the line-up included two licensed bars. Over in the Armoury, guests could grab a stiff drink within the Towers, surrounded by stained-glass windows and big game trophies

For anyone looking for a slightly more relaxed atmosphere, a smaller bar near the courtyard in the Ingestre Centre offered a more rustic affair and eventually became known as the Country Bar.

It seems that the Country Bar was located in a building neighbouring the Courtyard, which had once housed a blacksmith's shop when Alton Towers was a private house. The small bar was a favourite drinking spot for many years but seems to have fallen out of use during the 70s, shortly before the amusement park opened.

The building still stands today and is now used as a staff area behind Mutiny Bay Donuts and the games opposite Wicker Man.
