Burger King set to be replaced in 2013

Several people have confirmed to us that one of the last major franchise food outlets, Burger King, is to be replaced with in-house food outlets next season.

There has been no official confirmation from the park of the decision yet nor what is set to replace the 3 current Burger King outlets on the park, but it is thought that it will likely be a similar outlet to that at Blackpool Tower called The Burger Kitchen, which is a Merlin outlet that prides itself on sourcing local ingredients.

The news is not surprising to many as since Merlin has come to power it has slowly removed many franchised food outlets from each of its attractions, and instead has developed its own “brand” of in-house eateries to replace the franchised outlets such as KFC, Pizza Hut and now Burger King.

Several of our members have also reported that Burger King signage was actually being taken down recently at Alton Towers sister park, Thorpe Park, suggesting that they could be losing the franchise also.

Whilst the Merlin outlets do have some mixed reviews versus their franchised counterparts, many have found the quality of food has increased and also offers better value for money particularly as they offer Annual Pass discount unlike the franchises.
