Rollercoaster Restaurant: General Discussion

I wasn't sure where best to put it so stuck it in the SB Rumour says its going to be a foodloop.

There is also another application to commence building work on the hotel that was approved back in 2006.

Air shop's entrance looks fine. I can only assume its a part of a bigger plan. Shame there isnt an application submitted for Air's tunnel, but lets not go there :p

Thanks to member @ARead23 Who just picked this up http://publicaccess.staffsmoorlands.gov.uk/portal/servlets/ApplicationSearchServlet?PKID=78034

Air shop getting a themed entrance?

Super-wild speculation time. There was a rumour of Ripsaw moving to make space for the next SW. Would they expand Air shop to add a food outlet in same building to replace Refresh@Ripsaw?

I'm probably overthinking this but it does sound like that side of Forbidden Valley is gonna see change.

positive change whatever it is. If its for a new entrance, or early signs for a new ride on that area. Nice they are thinking ahead rather then last minute as usual.

It was to go on the end of where the spa is at the moment, as shown in this image. The idea was that a new spa reception (on the side facing the Enchanted Village) would be built along with a reception for the new wing of the hotel which if I remember rightly was to be a luxury health spa/getaway place.

Is that the same as the application from 200x? Or is it in addition to it?

Also, just looked up FoodLoop, there is no way they could fit that in Air Ahop even with an extension. Would be cool to see that concept though, should have gone in Towers St.

Certainly the Air rumours are interesting regarding this. To my knowledge, given the location of the Woodland Walk and Air itself, there is only one way the expansion could happen and that's outwards from the front.

That could be either into the current plaza in front of the shop (which is quite large), or it could involve removing the trees between the shop and the Refresh building and simply building along there - which would increase the building size massively. Certainly to a restaurant size space (and one which would be needed if there is any more future expansion to FV).

Done a couple of illustrations to indicate what I mean:

In the blue is where the expansion could take place without any major landscape alterations, it would just extend the floor space outwards. In yellow is another possibility, increasing the size massively - but it would involve moving the position of the Air disabled entrance, and removing some trees in between. Using my primitive Photoshop skills, I imagine this is the area it would take up if the yellow expansion were to happen:

The spa application was a new one, but the hotel extension mentioned is the one which was first mooted (and accepted) in 2006. The 2011 application was to extend the amount of time allowed to build it.

Ok, so the other forum are saying that they believe its a foodloop style restaurant. Now I don't want to say for certain they are wrong, but we know that the whole concept of foodloop is copyrighted to HeineMack® GmbH. They have also previously said that they have no plans to extend their offerings to the UK. Maybe they have changed their minds, but I find it unlikely.

Have they said that? There's a whole page on their website dedicated to franchising. It doesn't mention international, but why would they turn it down if Towers wanted one?

Could they not extend the air shop backwards over the queue and brakerun?

A rollercoaster restaurant would an exceptionally good investment for Alton Towers.

Whatever they do, they'd better keep a neon sign on top of that building, or just move the 'air' section of it to the entrance!
