Thorpe Park: General Discussion

There's usually a way to bypass shops, as is seen for TH13TEEN at Towers. Merlin being Merlin, they're probably trying to force more people into their shops for a little bit more profit.

In regards to Stealth's new shop, it does look like a cladded shipping container to me but at least it's a step up from a bog standard container! As long as it's nicely themed inside and doesn't look too out of place then I'm fine with it.

I guess this means Rita will be next to get the 'shop-treatment' - we already know that some of the HB leisure stalls have moved to MB. In fact, isn't the horse racing one (already in MB) actually next to Rita's exit?

Rita has always had a shop... A crap one that was clearly an afterthought hence it's location across a busy pathway from the exit, but a shop nonetheless...

The racer game was the one from Forbidden Valley, so the one in Dark Forest remains...

Always said Rita's shop should of been like this:

Anyhow, looking at going to Summer Nights this year and was wondering if it is worth it? How busy is it? Also anyone else notice how shocking the Thorpe Park breaks pages are when it comes to actually working. Last year when I tried to book it would throw up problems in Chrome and it doesn't seem that much better this year.

I don't mind shops at the exit of major attractions, but only if it is done well. I like it when an attraction has an elaborate indoor exit, with a themed shop at the end as this feel like they had a bare room and thought to add a shop.

Where as shops like TH13TEEN's where you are 'forced' into them, I feel like they have gone out of their way to make you spend more money, as though they cant be bothered to hide that they want to gobble up everything in your wallet.

Yes, summer nights. Amazing. Do it. The park is nearly always dead. Last year we got a ridiculous ride count. Stayed on inferior for god knows how long. Stealth, we were just getting off at the offload then walking along the platform and getting back on the same train.

I think it was £5 for MaP holders and £15 for non. Amazing value. The atmosphere was good, no chavs etc, if quite eerie. Certain parts of the park were actually completely empty of any sign of life.

Not to mention how beautiful it all looks at night when the place is empty.

All you miss is rush.

Nope the racer game was the Dark Forest one, at first I thought it was the Air one, but when you look at the photos TS (well I :p) posted you can see the dark forest style signs on the front of the machines.

So they could be installing a shop next to the ride. But then they could have just moved the racer game to where the current shop is. Suppose we will see soon!

For anyone has previously been to Thorpe's AP preview event, whats it like?

I'd really like to visit when the whole parks open (last year, just visited on Summer Nights), but I despise the place when its busy, thought maybe the AP event could be worthwhile?

Is there even a Thorpe passholders preview day this year? I can't seem to find anything about one on their website.

EDIT:

Just seen on Twitter that they've said they are doing one. Nice to see there's plenty of notice and advertisment!

:)

Is there a reason why no results show when you go on Thorpe's breaks site for a Room only search. Wanting to book two nights for Summer Nights but no results show. If I do it with tickets (which I don't need) it works. Tried in Chrome and Internet Explorer (as had problems with chrome not working to well with the site in the past) and nothing.

Last year was fine. I know the one in 2011 was an almost mythical catastrophe, but people need to get over that now.

I'm glad to have experienced a mythical day!

I had a lot of fun at the 2011 annual pass day to be honest. Was one of the more entertaining trips to Thorpe Park, we played "hide from the enthusiasts" and laughed uncontrollably at how bad Storm Surge was before they even finished it. ;)

(I purposefully forgot about the hour long queue for Burger King and the fact we only got on three rides.)

Surely nowhere near as bad as the Half Term openings was it?

It was far worse. Packed rides, even busier places to eat. One of only two times that I've just walked out the park in absolute rage.
