Fake mayor open's Alton Towers

I think the Daily Mail win the award for most random URL of the year with that one!
 
Billington even managed to dupe theme park giants Alton Towers after tweeting them saying: 'Looking forward to opening/attending @altontowers tomorrow! Britain's best theme park in great #Staffordshire.'

They responded with: '@mayorofstafford We look forward to seeing you for our £OpeningWeekend! It's going to be great! :).'

Was that a Freudian slip there?
 
When I first read the title of this topic I imagagined it being one of the entertainment staff not a member of the public but fair play to him. Anyway, this gave me the idea wouldn't it be a cool Alton Towers twist to have someone playing the part of eccentric mayor opening the theme park each day! ;)
 
I like the way he is cutting the ribbon at the towers, then make a rude comment about the major of Shrewsbury. I wonder if he know the links between The alton estate and shrewsbury?
 
When the local rag asked him for comment he replied that he could because he was too busy with mayoral duties!

Whether or not you think it's funny, you've got to hand it to him for the level of dedication he's putting in to this! :p

I see Cllr Jon Tandy a lot during my working week and he's a really nice, friendly chap. Not nice to make fun of the guy's physical look, though. I hope he wasn't too offended.
