CBeebies Land

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

That's a good point, there's no excuses for any parts of the advert being poor considering the BBC are involved! Will be interesting to see how it's done and whether it fits in with Towers recent brand or takes a completely new point of view. I hope it still somehow features ITHOTMK but I'd say that's unlikely.

:)

The BBC won't have any input on the advert. All of the IP licensing is through BBC Worldwide who don't have (as far as I am aware) any department actually producing any content, only selling productions made by the BBC and things related to them (i.e. magazines, merch, etc.). The advert will be done by whatever advertising agency they are going with.

BBC worldwide may still have final sign off on the CBeebies Land project and advert.

BBC Worldwide do actually produce quite a bit of content themselves. For example the vast majority of special features on BBC DVD and Bluray is produced by BBC Worldwide.

Whilst you are right in that an agency will be producing the CBeebies Land campaign, BBC Worldwide will almost certainly have sign off on any advert as part of the contract with Merlin (as mentioned by Jon above). They are fiercely protective of the BBC brand and will not want any old rubbish going out with the BBC name on it, they have standards to maintain. The BBC don't have their reputation by accident.

It looks nice and all, and I know it isn't finished yet, but I can't help but feel it's a bit.... bare?

I think they have a lot still to do over the next 5 weeks. You could see in the video from the boat ride cables sticking out of the floor that are obviously waiting for themed pieces to arrive. But I think what can be seen of Postman Pat and the Showtime area looks good. The BishBash retheme doesn't look bad either, just needs the exterior finished off.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Was it me or were there inflatables by the side of the boat ride? Like, bouncy castle style?

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Looking good so far! Excited to see the result. It's pretty obvious why they are opening it later than standard park opening day. They are obviously making it the best they can.

No it wasn't just you. Looks like they've not been unwrapped yet though. :)

It'd be good if they did have actors in the costumes for the boat ride!

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

The video was probably recorded at least a week ago, looks about right for where I expected it to be. They will probably have focused getting the show time area done first do they can start rehearsals ect.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Looks how I expected tbh. Would be nice to see more 3D pieces of theming appear though. Judging by that video parts of the area still look a little worn out.

Looks OK on the whole though (could be far better but meh, don't expect much from Merlin). I'm sure families will like it!

Those are the HooHa's (I think). One of the many weird & wonderful characters from the show. They are giant inflatable bouncy castle things & looked exactly like they should.

Thing is there is more than I month before it opens and I would guess that video is at least a week old if not older (probably done during filming of the advert maybe.

Things like theming elements on ITNG will be built off site and mostly just be plug and play so I imagine they will pop up quite quick. It could easily be a bit lacklustre in the true Merlin tradition for sure but I wouldnt expect a finished product 6 weeks before opening.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

I swear one of the sounds in that video was an old Riverbank sound effect! :p

Looks like it's coming along nicely. I pray that there is lots of themig to be added to the boat ride though as it does look very bare at the moment.

:)

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

The interactive features for Postman Pat sound really good, and quite unexpected!

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

To be honest, you only have to look at the access road behind Cbeebies Land as you drive up Farley Lane, there's so many themeing elements sitting there.

I suspect that there's a lot more to be added.

:)

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Some of the theming looks promising in that video, a lot of buildings that looked plain primary colours from a distance have some detailing to them which is good.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

If you look to your right as you're approaching AT on Farley Lane, I believe just before the staff entrance (could be after, I dunno) you can actually see some of the theming elements which haven't gone in yet!
