Was Jesus Gay?

I'm agnostic. I do think there's some sort of creator or omnipotent being, but to me idea of praising a god which gives people free will then gets so offended by someone being gay he sends them to hell forever is just weird, and if that's true then imho god must be a massive bellend. But I've got nowt against people for believing in a religion or being atheist, I think you should believe in what you want to.

1 question always puzzles me.

If God is all knowing. How was he convinced to not SLAY others by mortals/prophets etc?

There's a heck of a lot of references to dismiss the idea that someone of enlightened thought was not present upon the Earth who had a huge amount of influence on people around him.

And there also seems to be an awful lot of reports of direct interaction between "God" and people, and not in a dream like enlightened sense, but in a real physical, almost paranormal fashion.

And then we get onto some of the depictions of "beings" in the Good book.

The religion seems to take total leave of it's senses in not acknowledging the contradictions present. This worries me, because it affects humanity as a whole. Was in misinterpreted? A total fabrication (I seriously doubt this)? Mistranslations?

To me, I do find the argument to suggest it's nothing but a myth to be very condescending, and I'm not religious - but I am a human. People back then were still more than capable of understanding and creating great things, when you consider some of the utterly mind boggling monuments that remain to this day as testament to our ancient cultures not being primitive cave dwelling ignorants.

One thing that always struck me though, with many religions out there, with fantastic histories monuments and stories, how do you choose with faith to have other than essentially spinning a gambling wheel with your soul?

No, for me, and I may be wrong, I believe there's something a bit deeper beyond all this that gets lost in the endless bitching about who is right and wrong. The Bible for all it's controversies contains great life advice and meaning behind all the, well, bizarreness at times, and if I was "God" I'd be a bit annoyed by that quite honestly.

From my understanding though, ultimately, I don't think God invented "religion" I believe man did.

My opinion is that religion is a good and very important thing, mainly due to the morals it brings and the happiness that it gives to many followers, but I don't personally follow it. I believe their is a God of some description, but as a Creator, rather than the Holy Spirit or the Trinity or any suggestion of an omniscient, omnipresent being. I don't see God as some moral judge, rather that morals were created by humans and passed down through evolution. It's observable in animals, so suggesting that it is brought by God is possibly misguided.

Just putting out my random spiel from my mind. Nothing really to do with the topic, but I can see that the topic's subject is changing.

To stay with the topic a little, I reckon it would be unlikely that Jesus would be gay, but it could possibly be a representation of God's all-loving nature- so maybe bi?. I'm not really sure, just throwing that possibility out there.

So seeing as it's a festive season it got me thinking was Jesus Gay?
The Bible doesn't mention any birds as such and he was surrounded by blokes so was he gay?

I think he may of been, what's everyone else's view?

Haha I know its quite a serious topic and all but the way you phrased it I'm in stitches here! :p

This.

In my opinion, this is kind of what separates Christianity from other belief systems. It's not so much a "religion" as a choice. We don't believe in a God that counts your good and bad deeds, and we don't believe that your actions can get you to heaven. The only thing that can get you to heaven is Jesus. "Religion" is created by humans, and there is often quite a lot wrong with it. Try watching this video- it's quite thought-provoking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IAhDGYlpqY

Back to the original question, if we take out the religious stuff and just focus on the man that lived 2000-odd years ago, weren't most people "gay" then? A lot of people just slept with whoever they wanted, being persecuted for being gay wasn't really a thing until religion came along.

Well it was meant to be a light hearted discussion to regain my fail topic award but that kinda failed.

Back to the topic I do think it was possible he was gay because of the way the bible is anti gay, like it's trying to cover the facts.
It's certainly anti women and treats them as second class citizens.
Also if this person called Jesus did exist and I think that fairly likely (even if he wasn't the son of god) then he would of been the celebrity of his day, like a modern day Robbie Williams if you like, so women would of been throwing themselves at him and the bible would be full of tales of infidelity, plus he never married.
