No Daim bar eggs?! You are henceforth banished from my hands (And other bodily limbs) :p
Only joking, You can still hold my hands.

Had an amazing day! Not gonna do a trip report, but here's my highlights and lowlights.

Highs:
Meeting up with everyone again!
Talking to people I didn't on the last meet.
Vicky's absolutely delicious cookies!
Amazing ride on a very broken Ripsaw! 3 cycles for the price of 1!
Walking through the Towers ruins for the first time.
A very trippy ITNG boat ride.
Getting exclusive access to CBeebies Land!
Using the Tree Fu Tom play area, and almost getting flung off the zip wire by @CGM!
Absolutely PISHING it down when we were under the canopy in the Big Fun Show Time!
Getting a surprise visit from Pete Cliff.
Being taken on a short cut out of CBeebies Land, and behind the shops on Towers St.

Lows:
Waiting for everyone in the morning, after lots of #FAFF!
Getting very wet on the rapids.
RITA in the rain.
2 break downs whilst queueing for The Smiler for the 2nd time.
Absolutely PISHING it down when we were under the canopy in the Big Fun Show Time!
Shaking @Danny's hand.

A big thanks to Dan and the Resort for the walk through of the area this evening. Yet another enjoyable meet courtesy of you lot, and a lovely new area in the form of CBeebies Land. Cue the group photo:

Rather like last year's Scarefest, yesterday was very much a day of two halves, but the low expectations with which I went into the day were, in the end, very much exceeded :)

After a week in which I'd probably spent 50+ hours in the office, I spent a fair part of the day feeling rougher than the Smiler, and was a total bear with a sore head to begin with, so thanks Ro, Balsdon, Panda, Vicky, Danny and a few others for doing their best to cheer me up at that point :)

I didn't pay a great deal of attention to the rest of the park; the early stages riding Get Set Go, Rapids, Mine Train and Duel were fun, but once the rain set in, it really did put a damper on my mood for a while, and even moreorless walking onto the three B&Ms, I was somewhat missing my bed.

The shambolic debacle of Towers Street Bar & Grill didn't exactly help - the half hour wait to order food THEN the half hour wait for it to arrive (though at least ours was alright when it came, unlike a lot of others, I gather) was far from ideal. That said, there was no problem with the service otherwise, and it does look a hell of a lot better in there, so maybe we can put that down to teething problems which will be sorted out before Summer; I know F&B across the entire park is taking a kicking lately (the 'soft' opening on coffee outlets did NOT impress me!), but that's another matter for another time.

Me & Vicky abandoned everyone in the afternoon and basically collapsed in a crumpled heap in Dragon Bar for an hour while everyone else was riding Rita and Thirteen - and I came back feeling a lot better for it, partly thanks to Corner Coffee. It wasn't really until ride close that I properly felt like myself, and again, despite the ludicrous weather, the exclusivey tour of the the new area was much appreciated (cheers Dan, Craig and indeed Towers Management for going above and beyond for us once again). The playground was the obvious highlight - most fun I've had pratting about the zipwires and frankly lethal slides in a thunderstorm since the Manley Mere meet in January :)

By way of explanation, as a few of you probably gathered, just before we headed to Oblivion, I crossed paths with a couple of enthusiasts from my past who were probably hoping never to see me again. They seemed to be enjoying Alton's new investment too, which was the main thing - but I was very appreciative that our brief encounter was as civil as possible and involved the minimum of awkwardness, and felt considerably better afterwards.

As for Cbeebiesland itself - expectations exceeded, and definitely deserves our praise. It's hard to regress myself that far, but I'd imagine, as with Drayton's Thomasland and to a lesser extent the offerings of Paulton's, I think, as an under-5, I'd probably experience those areas with the same starry-eyed wonderment that I now view Europa Park (Yes, still got a bit of post-Junket blues...) as an adult. Younger visitors have very much been neglected by Merlin (Legoland aside) for the last few years, this was the perfect step towards bringing them back, and I think they've hit the nail on the head. In a weird way, I enjoyed the area music and the few minutes of the Zingzilla show that I encountered, while Get Set Go has breathed life back into a ride that's been dying on its paws for nearly twenty years now. Considering the wasteland the farm had become, it was refreshing to see the area, loud, bright and full of life and bright colours once again - top marks to the staff for staying so upbeat and welcoming despite the hours they'd stood out in the rain for as well. The kids seemed to love it too, I think I only witnessed one temper tantrum!

I heard positive reviews of all the other rides that people did manage to get on, and I'd have liked to have done the In the Night Garden ride - I used to watch that a lot in my drunken student days and along with Sarah & Duck, it's probably my favourite current pre-school show (I have an Iggle Piggle in my room, for... reasons I'm not entirely sure of!!!) but out of respect (and... apathy) decided the queues were long enough for the kids without geeks clogging them up any further. I'll definitely make the effort to see more of the area later on in the year. The show area's impresive as well and will be a lovely place to sit in the Summer (as well as one to shelter during an unexpected violent thunderstorm!!!) Nina's science lab was a giggle as well - again, I'd have seriously loved that as a five year old.

So, as ever, nice to see everyone again, even if a few of the regulars were sadly absent - not sure I'd properly spoken to Stu or Tom B before, and managed a chat with a few others that I don't usually see very much of (CGInkfacedM, who I don't think I'd seen since Flamingoland, Ted who was more talkative than usual etc.) and the Pre-Cbeebiesland sosche was fun. Nice to meet Baby Anabelle as well, hope she enjoyed the bits of the day when she wasn't asleep or being terrorised by Josh & Ellie; once again, can't apologise enough for the whole smoking thing - I usually pride myself on at least trying to be considerate, so no excuse for myself on that occasion :(

Looking forward to seeing Danny's inevitably hilariously unflattering photos, and finally, thanks again to Vicky for cookies and introducing me to a joyful Indian restaurant after I decided it was far too wet for public transport, and took a little roadtrip to Shroosbury on the way home. As she says, post-Towers curry sosche needs to become a thing. Alas, not nearly enough of my passengers agree with me on this :p
Otherwise... I'll see you all at Chessington in a few weeks :)
