Merlin Parks & Attractions: Quick Questions.

Last year they allowed you to add 12 months onto your current expiry date.

The sale was £99 last year (a 37% saving, down from the previous years' 50%) and I find it highly likely that they will offer the same deal this time. It will be announced in a few weeks and start on Boxing Day if previous years are anything to go by.

I've seen the above comments re. the Merlin sale and, with the lack of details released about it so far, is it safe to assume they're not doing one this year? Did it not start on Boxing Day last year?

Re: Merlin Parks & Attractions: Quick Questions.

Does anyone know how long the witch scene (finale) at Warwick has been there? I'm sure it wasn't last time I visited.

It is brilliant I thought, the best scene of any dungeons by far IMHO.

Re: Merlin Parks & Attractions: Quick Questions.

It was added in 2012 I recall.

I agree - it's superb.

Re: Merlin Parks & Attractions: Quick Questions.

Finale there needed a huge improvement.

Hi, would I be mad to contemplate a visit to Thorpe Park on Easter Sunday? I appreciate it may be a difficult question be answer but I am wishfully thinking perhaps people stay away because everyone assumes it will be packed?

Has anyone been on Easter Sunday before who could give me an idea? I don't necessarily mind 'busy' but if we are talking only being able to get on a couple of rides all day then it won't be worth the 4hr round trip!

Thanks :)

I went a couple of years ago on Easter Sunday, and i think it is one of the gypsy days. So expect lots of queues and lots of security around and quite a bit of queue jumping too.

Does Thorpe Park have ERT for MAP holders? If so, what time does it start, and which rides are open for it?

Thanks,
Tom

Not official ERT but they have been allowing MAP holders in before the general public are allowed in, I got 20 minutes last week. And you get whatever's ready to open, all I managed to get on last week was Stealth.

Oh OK, so it's not worth turning up, expecting to get in at 9?

I doubt it'd be open. The general consensus is that you'd get about 30 minutes.

Re: Merlin Parks & Attractions: Quick Questions.

Hotel guests get ERT at Thorpe though don't they? Dunno what's on it though having said that...

^ I think they have ert but I don't know what rides are available if anyone has the list I would really appreciate it.

There isn't a list it just depends what rides they've handed over to ops.

Re: Merlin Parks & Attractions: Quick Questions.

We were told on opening that gates are open 15-30 mins early to hotel guests and MAP holders. Rides age swarm and flying fish and then what ever else is ready to open. We got on Stealth and inferno when I was there before the park opened.

Hi,

On a recent trip to Chessington, the park was open 9am-6pm (although I didn't make it in until 9:45 because I was getting my MAP at the desk), and as I went in, I saw a big stand with "Early Rider" over it. We didn't think much of it, because it's usually hotel guests who get early rider, and we wanted to get on the good rides quickly, no point asking.

And yet until about 10:30, every ride's fastrack queue was crammed with people with these wristbands, in some cases made our wait 3X longer (fortunately it was fairly quiet anyway).

From what I can research it's some "summer holidays" thing, but in case I go back over the remainder if the summer, does anyone know who's entitled to this "early rider", and what time it runs?

Thanks in advance :)

I believe the early rider is only for hotel guests and has been going since the park opened beginning of this year. (I know having worked there early on this year) :)

1. There was a lot more than the hotel guests in the fastrack queues!
2. Why would they advertise it at the Lodge Gate?
