Don't stay in The Raddle Inn

As above I am feeling very very embarassed and annoyed at booking this dump and will be looking to correct this cock up tomorrow.

Can you elaborate further please as we would like to know reason behind this or it just sounds like you're slagging the place off.

Thank youuu :)

If it's the same Raddle Inn that I think you're talking about, I think it's a quite nice place.

I've never stayed on their campsite, but I've been there for something to eat, and I thought it was lovely. In the middle of nowhere, overlooking hills. Really lovely place to go for a pub lunch.

But yeah, it'd be best describing your experience first.

:)

Moved to trip reports & plans, also slightly modified the title :)

If there's no elaboration on this then I'll lock pending removal.

Certainly can, we are staying here tonight ripped mattress, beds not made, no sheets and two towels for a party of three. No pressure in shower and last but not least we was given hand towels after I asked for more. Bearing in mind I have paid extra for a hot tub. Assuming Tarin has had as bad a night sleep as I suspect I plan to move on swiftly to the Chained Oak if there are rooms. I am seriously feeling bad about this and its keeping me awake.

Team Edit: SPG corrected

We stayed in the cabins there for my hen do a couple of years ago and it was fine. Nothing fancy but clean and comfy.

We stayed in the cabins last year for fireworks and agree, definitely nothing fancy but clean and fine. Don't remember any issues with towels and the only bed we had to make ourselves was the sofabed (which I expected). Only complaint was that the heating was too hot, even when we turned thermostat down one bedroom remained too hot, better than too cold though!

If the beds weren't made and not enough towels I expect you complained immediately as those are things that can be fixed. I see once you did complain you were given hand towels, did they explain why? When staying in hotel or accommodation always complain about things ASAP, don't leave it until you have gone home!

You're embarrassed about booking yourself into a basic hotel that doesn't meet your standards, but not about your staggering inability to present whatever it is you wish to communicate in a clear, concise and legible fashion.

Might I suggest a reevaluation of your priorities?

I think his point was more that he's paid a fair amount of money to stay at this place, and they can't even get the amount of towels and linen right. For almost the same amount of money we could have stayed in a far nicer hotel. If it had been fifty a night, fine. It wasn't. Last time I checked a basic hotel didn't put people back three hundred pounds for two nights.

His point is moot. The internet exists to allow you to do research into these things.

Have you put a complaint in to the manager as they may be able to refund you?

I've never stayed in the inn myself but from other reviews then it seems like your experience was an unfortunate one off. I'm sure they'd be happy to investigate this further.

This is a boring whine for the sake of whining post.

You can resolve these instantly yourself without needing to share rubbish with us. Raddle Inn is pretty good from my account, and same with others above.

Then you come sleep on the broken mattress. I'm too tired at 11.00 at night to make complaints and frankly there has been no cleaning or fresh linen. I've made a review if you don't like it tough.

I wouldn't expect sheets to be changed after one night, that's just a waste of water.. How often do you change your bed sheets at home? Also as it is self catering log cabins I don't think I would expect daily cleaning either unless I asked for something to be done.

I think the issue people are having here is that you have ranted about what you think of your stay at a place - which is fine - but haven't actually attempted to remedy any of the issues mentioned.

Have you actually made a complaint to anyone in the hotel regarding your problems or have you simply slagged it off on here? I usually find with hotels that if you bring something up as it happens they are more than likely to bend over backwards to try and sort it out.

Writing a tirade of negatives on an Alton Towers forum won't fix that unfortunately :)

Damage happens, It is hoped it is spotted and corrected before a new customer is given the room. however sometimes it is missed, and the only way it come to their attention is by customer raising the problem.
I would expect linen to be changed between different customers using the room. and there being the right amount of towels for the number of customers in the room. although sometimes wrong occupancy level can end up on the cleaning teams sheet for rooms, causing wrong towel amounts.

Over the last year, I have worked on and off over on my works (a college) campus that has residential accommodations. We have 5 windows of opportunity to get in a do a full inspection of the accommodations. At any other time throughout the year fault, damage and problems are reported by the users (students) of the accommodation.

I am not defending the hotel, just pointing out my view of it from a service providers prospective.

Totally agree. A manager won't go in for a quick snooze between each customer to check the beds are comfortable. I have never stayed here, and I am not saying the service is up to scratch as it sounds like it wasn't.

I think as a forum here though, if the chap has complained, and the hotel has not offered recompense, explanations or good will we should be grateful for the sharing of information. I would consider twice before this location as a result and do further research, given the hinting of prices from @Tarin Maria whom I have only ever found to be a warm and considerate member of this forum I think perhaps the level of disdain towards @chris556 could be somewhat tempered a little.

I'm not trying to say that others haven't had a good experience here, but we haven't. And for the amount of money paid you would expect a little better. For this kind of price, we could have stayed somewhere far nicer. When I paid 180 pounds to stay at a hotel in Madrid for three nights it was far far better than this (European double beds taken into account). The amount you pay should equal the quality of where you stay, and this simply has not happened here.
