The IHOTMK Topic

So I thought we could have a "In the Hall of the Mountain King" topic after becoming obsessed with the monorail audio. Dedicated to variants of Towers' trademark soundtrack and discussing in general.

See it as a 101-style topic, let's get sharing.

Aside from Edvard Grieg's original (naturally), here is my favourite version by my favourite band ELO. Ignore the other side. Witness the amazing cover, hair and dancing.

Enjoy.

I really liked the version they used last year on the greatest ride tv adverts, not sure if they made it or if it was someone else.

I also like the new version they use in the monorail station/box office, but I cant find a blank version of that online.

One of the most amazing versions I've ever seen! :D

Imagine if the Tesla Coil in TH13TEEN's queue line did that, then the magic would truly be alive.

EDIT:

Oh... and this!

My Favourite Sonic Cartoon; The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog contains a bit of ITHOTMK in the theme tune

Other peices are Flight of the Bumblebee and the intro from Sonic 1 and Sonic 2

;D

Probably the best orchestrated version that replicates the original and betters it with a few odd twists in pitch. Still feeling the magic. Seems to be sadly a problem with the recording settings though.

And the classic Portsmouth Sinfonia version.

The pre-requisite for joining this group were that either you did not know how to play a musical instrument, or if you could you had to switch to an instrument you did not play. Also you had to turn up for rehersals and the object was not to play badly.

Brian Eno was in the group and played clarinet.

I seem to remember that very orchestra doing Kinghts of Cydonia. But back on topic I think that is one of the best versions I have heard, it had so much atmosphere to it.

One of the few occasions where I like Dubstep! :p

Just to revive this topic... this is my current favourite version... :p

One of my favourites, the lyrics are perfect for this community. This should be a wild card for the official Tavern Anthem.

What about the Ginzburg version

Wow, that's really good. Similar to the tesla coil one but possibly a bit more faithful to the original orchestration due to the 8 parts. Love the quality of audio as well, very rare that a normal Youtube video utilises ORTF for true stereo sound ;)
