Football Discussion

Didn't see that coming, I imagined another loan, it's not like Everton to splash that much cash on one player although they are one team that deserve to do well 13 mil more than when they signed Fellaini. I just hope it pays off and he sends Chelsea down :D

Less than 2 weeks to go till the Premier League returns. Whilst it has been a successful pre-season for MUFC, I won't get too optimistic given that it was only friendlies.

Who is everyone fancying for the league and the drop? My predictions will probably change as more transfers happen but at present:

1. Chelsea
2. Man City
3. Arsenal
4. Man United
5. Liverpool
6. Tottenham
7. Everton

To go down:

Leicester, Swansea (unless they hold onto Bony) and perhaps Hull.

I think you are being a little unfair, without the distraction of European Football, I think Man Utd have a good chance at the Premier League. It is not like the team is lacking in quality. I think failure to win anything this season will be a massive disappointment for you.

I agree that Liverpool will struggle this season with losing Suarez, and having the extra European matches to deal with.

Glad to see you have not got Palace in the bottom three, although I think if we finish 17th, I would take that now. It is going to be very close at the bottom. I think Burnley will start well as teams will under estimate them, but they will eventually go down.

1. Man City
2. Chelsea
3. Man Utd
4. Arsenal
5. Liverpool

18. Hull
19. Burnley
20. Sunderland

We're capable of winning a cup, but I think the league may be a step too far, we could challenge though. I still think we need at least 2 more signings (DM and CB) to really challenge.

Yes I think Liverpool's chance was last season. They're going to have to change the system this season which obviously may or may not work, adding in the additional fixtures it could prove to be a bit much.

Hard to call the bottom, I think Palace will be fine, I'd like QPR to go straight back down but I can't see that happening.

My predictions
1) Arsenal - Have had the best transfer season so far imo, plus now they've got rid of the title drought factor
2) Man City - Not done much in the window, but still have a great squad, and don't need to buy anyone. I can see them being more focused on Europe this season, so imo Arsenal will just beat them to the title.
3) Chelsea - Fabregas will be boss for them, I honestly think Costa will flop though
4) Liverpool - Will probably suffer without Suarez, but are still a good team imo
5) Man Utd - Need to make 2-3 more signings to title challenge imo, but will be much better than last year, plus will have the advantage of no European games
6) Everton - We're probably better than Spurs even without Lukaku
7) Spurs - Can't see them doing anything interesting this season

18) QPR - Hope they go down, can't stand Harry Redknapp and don't like club in general
19) Villa - It's been coming the past few seasons, and seen as Lerner doesn't even care anymore I can't see them staying up
20) Burnley - Would like to see them do well, but they'll be the whipping boys this season

I disagree, I think Chelsea will win the league this season. I'm surprised Villa have lasted so long, maybe this is the year they'll be sent down.

At first I did, but to be honest I don't think Costa will be as good as everyone thinks for them this season, probably because I can't help thinking of how Torres, Shevchenko, Crespo etc all flopped for the club, plus he had a poor world cup and will probably take the first third of the season to adjust propely to the prem. Imo they'd have been better off keeping Lukaku as their main striker.

Looking at the teams, I think City & Arsenal's are stronger than theirs.

My bets for the Premier Leagues this season are as follow:

Palace to win the league, with a 45 point handicap :) £1 returns £13

Swansea to be relegated £1 returns £6

Arsenal to finish higher than Man Utd
Liverpool to finish higher than Spurs
Everton to finish higher than Newcastle
Leicester to finish higher than QPR
Palace to finish higher than Burnley
5 Fold, £1 returns £9.75

Roll on next weekend :)

My predictions are so follows:

1. Chelsea. If Costa performs like he did with Atletico Madrid, then they will easily win the league.
2. Man City. Strong squad, good manager, can't see them dropping out of the top 3.
3. Man United. Van Gaal will have a big impact on them. Unfortunately...
4. Liverpool. Even without Suarez, I think they are good enough to retain a Champions League spot.
5. Arsenal. Think it will be that time they finally finish 5th.
6. Everton. Don't think they will manage top 5 with the Europa League on their minds. However, I think they will get far in the competition and/or win the Capital One or FA Cup
7. Spurs. Think they will struggle with Pochettino.

18. Aston Villa. They've struggle a lot in the past seasons, and I think their time will be up.
19. Hull. Not a bad side, but I think they will struggle with the Europa League if they make it into the group stage (which I think they will) judging by what happened with Swansea last season, and their squad is weaker than Swansea's.
20. QPR. They were awful in the Championship last season towards the end. Reckon they will do what they did last time and go down.

I think Leicester will stay up comfortably and Burnley will just scrape it.

My predictions..

1) Norwich...

Oh wait - we aren't talking Championship are we?

Also apologies for the double-post but I think it's about time a few lurking Ashley Coles made an appearance here.
