Flamingo Land: General Discussion

Re: flamingo land

There is no sign of this anywhere but on park. The theming is pathetic. It looks hideous. If you see the actual ride, it has giraffe/leopard spots all over it - prehistoric?

Flamingo Land fail to exceed expectations once again. Why they don't just focus on one theme at a time; Splosh, Swoosh, Lost Kingdom, Little Monsters', that Driving School thing, Metropolis and now this ugly 'prehistoric' thing can all be seen one one regular picture; you should be able to see one, two or three themed areas at once; not six contrasting ones.

They need to sort out their existing rides; for 2013, I can only hope for a complete rehaul rather than another half-arsed new ride. Pitiful. :(

Re: flamingo land

The new website states that it's part of 'Primeval'. Perhaps a larger scale area is planned for the years ahead.

That said, the new website also states that the ride is manufactured by Soriani, which is incorrect, so perhaps it's premature to think 'Primeval' is anything other than a space filler on the ride's fact file.

Re: flamingo land

Honestly, this is the least effort they've put into anything since their fairground days. If their last 3 additions (Mumbo, Swoosh, this) are anything to go by, I'm somewhat dreading what next year will bring! I haven't heard any whispers about what it will be, but you guarantee they'll find a way to make it terrible!

Re: flamingo land

Or maybe they cheaped out on the budget for this to make next year (presumably a coaster?) even better?

Just playing devil's advocate. :)

I'm secretly hoping so!

Re: flamingo land

It's a shame that Nathan is the only person who has been giving us information (via The Ride Guide) as to what Pterodactyl is moreso than the park itself too.

The way that Flamingo Land have gone about advertising hasn't been memorable, like the only indication they gave about a new ride was a simple box squished between Swoosh and Little Monsters on the map when I visited, with nil information or build up; Not even the social networking sites have been given much thought at a glance.

Pterodactyl itself looks messy, badly misplaced on park (It would've been better near Kumali and Mumbo Jumbo) and the theming is barely anything when you think of what the name is meant to represent. It isn't surprising on how, as Nathan says, it's meant to be part of a future Primeval area either since the two are hand in hand in advertising right now but hmm... It just looks like a damp squib of an effort for that IP introduction.

On another note, The Oracle shopping centre in Reading and the Bullring in Birmingham are currently showing Flamingo Land adverts despite not being really that near to the park (but hey, national advertising!). The Oracle has two different adverts, one generic thrills and one generic family, both from 2011 and aren't too bad.

Re: flamingo land

The ride area looks strangely large for the actual ride in the middle. Maybe in the long term it'll host a bigger circular flat?

Re: flamingo land

Maybe that's for safety reasons? Such as if the ride were to malfunction and start spinning at full speed whilst at the bottom...

I doubt Mingo have that much more foresight as to plan for a future ride! :p

Damp squib. Thank you IT crowd ;).

Sam - probably wishful thinking, however I'm just going by legolands ridiculous ride areas for things such as their longboat invader (rockin tug).

Flamingoland are bloody ace at theming, marketing, operations, anything to do with themselves <3.

*Checks* Oh yeah, it is! I'm such a eejit. I'll change it.

On topic ness may now continue.

Re: flamingo land

I'd actually rather have a decent amount of pretty poorly themed flat rides, than hardly any OK themed flat rides *cough* Alton *cough*

Re: flamingo land

Taking a trip in the near future. I'll see if I can get some pics of this failure carefully planned new attraction.

Re: flamingo land

Observed Mumbo Jumbo today achieving a record throughput of 240pph! Well done Flamingoland!

Re: flamingo land

Seriously - averaging a car a minute is an all time record?!

Re: flamingo land

^^ Yes John, bang on every minute! They hit about the same on a good day with Magnum Force, with a 20-passenger train being dispatched every 5 minutes! I think it's about the same with Kumali too, although for the most part that runs with 10 minutes dispatches.
