Can't wait for this, and not long now. Noticed the Alton Towers website has been updated a little bit and they're offering tickets at up to 40% off.

Quote from the website:

If you are really brave, why not stay over in our spookily themed Hotels. With a choice of amazing family attractions and extremely frightening scare mazes on your doorstep, you can make your Halloween break as relaxed or as terrifying as you like!

Surely thats a hint that the mazes are definitely going back to the hotel site?

Sounds very much like it. I did a Scareroom last year and thought it was fab. Would love to do it again this year, but thinking it might be a 'one time only' thing...just not as good the second time round.

Ooh, that actually sounds exciting! Can't wait for announcements on what is actually gonna be in said mazes now, roll on Scarefest!

I can't wait for scarefest this year, it is my favorite event they do. I hope they keep on making it better, not long until they close off the Towers to start the scare maze.

I was told quite a while back that Alton are definitely looking into making some kind of 'Sub-Terra Live' for Scarefest this year. I'm not entirely sure how that'd work though. More actors in and around the queue-line maybe?

hopefully this year will be better than 2011s.
duel and hex should go LIVE as they both worked really well, then of course scarezones should be put across the park, maybe 3 of them?

They seem to be pushing Scarefest last year, and (although it's not hard to beat 2011) I think this year's Scarefest will be one to remember.

There will be a new maze replacing Boiler House, the shake-up in Entertainments management, then there's if there are more or just improved scare zones!

Last year was good for children with he story time and animals, but I'm hoping a new maze (and hopefully lighting) will draw back Scarefest for the slightly older folk.

I agree it does sound like that, but I'm pretty sure they had some very similar wording on the site last year when there were no mazes up at the hotels so it could potentially mean nothing. Saying that, I do expect a couple of mazes up at the hotels again this year. My hope is 2 on park and 2 at the hotels though that is probably getting my hopes up a little too much.

:)

Scarefest is my Favourite Time of the Year!! Hope theres More Attractions & Lighting such as 2010's as the The Period is Much shorter this Time :)

I'd like to see the Zombie Zone make a return

Does anyone know when the travellers are likely to take up residence so that I can avoid them?

Scarefest is my favourite time of the year also. Just something about riding the rides in the dark with some mazes thrown in for good measure. Cannot wait for it this year!

If the Carnival of Screams isn't returning, it would be good to see some sort of 'Clownz' zone.
It always seems to work well.

rummer suggests that COS, TOT will return but BH will not and is getting replaced. the mazes also to go back over to the hotels and to have more scarezones. to say the least im a little excited

As it gets closer, I'm getting more and more excited. Scarefest is obviously a big hitting event for Towers, they have said so themselves.

As for mazes and zones, I would love to see a return of Zombies!, and another zone added at another section of the park, as for mazes, having wimped out last year (damn my timid moods) I cannot honestly say which ones I would like to see return, but from people talking last year, it seems that ToTT is a massive hit overall, COS and BH were not properly executed imo, being in the Black Hole tent, made the attractions significally smaller, having the mazes back over by the hotels seems to be an excellent choice.

the website wording has changed, and it really looks like something is returning to the hotels again - THANK THE LORD!

2011 was the worst scarefest ever for me, as I refused to miss park time to do the upcharge mazes. If they are off site mazes (ie at hotels) you feel less aggrieved paying more money as they seem like an extra attraction. To have them on park last year seemed to leave a nasty taste in peoples mouths. Not to mention they werent well received either.

However I think Alton have now left themselves with an odd predicament - guests who were new to Scarefest last year will now expect more than just ToTT on the park.

It looks to me like the moneygrabbing short-sightedness last year has come back to bite them in the bum.

I think the plan now should be for ToTT and CoS on Park with 2 scare zones and more 'live' attractions. Then one new maze at the hotels. Seems a fair balance to me.

With regard to Sub:Terra going 'live' considering we already have actors, I cant help but wonder if the plan was to always end up with what we have now come Scarefest time, but it has been made season round due to the poor initial reception.

I'm reckoning they could "make it scarier for scarefest" or something stupid to intensify it for Halloween. I really hope Hex - Live becomes a planned and advertised addition this year, but I'm highly doubting this as there was no interest or demand from teams before hence passionate ride staff creating it. :(

Might sound like a bit of a mad idea. But they could easily put up a temporary marquee in the remaining open area at the end of Sub-Terra for Scarefest, to make a much longer scare maze at the end - they could advertise it as more of an attraction then for Scarefest.

not a mad idea at all james, though I do worry about what effect it might have on through put.

Id sooner Duel:Live return <3.
