Funny things you've overheard people say in queuelines

In queue for Submission, mother & son in front of us:
'This is new eh!?' 'Yeah, i thought it was meant to have opened in 2013!'
The SW7 construction site is BEHIND THEM.

Hilarious.

From the people standing right behind me at the moment in 13 queue...

"Rita and Stealth used to be one ride, they couldn't have the height of stealth at Alton and they didn't have the space for the rest of the ride at Thorpe, so they split it into two rides"

I've heard that one from people on here before! It's quite a common misconception - I'm pretty sure Rita was destined for another park at one point though which is where it may have come from.

I think I heard a rumour a while back that Stealth was supposed to have a Rita-style layout after the top hat, but costs forced them to go with what they have now. Whether this is true or not is another thing entirely.

I said it I got it from Wikipedia and to be honest it was either that the were both bought as a combo package or there were designed as one ride but due to costs and timing they had to split the price with Intamin and go for two layouts for cheaper.

Not technically in a queueline, but a boy was holding his camera up towards the Corkscrews over the entrance, waiting for the perfect shot. I didn't have the heart to tell him no trains would be passing anytime soon...

Sometimes I seriously worry about the mental health of these people.

Surely though they would not have manufactured the entire Rita layout in preparation for Stealth before realising that they could not implement it? That doesn't seem realistic. Rita will have been designed as its own coaster, surely a top-hat coaster would utilise height better than Rita anyway - like the overbanked turns on Xcelerator?

It may have been that it was planned for the two to be combined, but in all honesty, I can't really see how it would have worked.

N:st queue- So this roller coasters going to be like Nemesis 1 and Nemesis two (I think hes going on about Inferno and Nemesis) put together? Great!

Hex Queue- My Friend- "So this ride goes totally upside down "
my other friend "Yes, make sure you hold on, or you'll fall out. Last time I came, someone fell out and they had to stop the ride to get his mashed up body out, and we were waiting upside down for 30 minutes"

The original plans for Stealth did include several overbanked turns, and did look remarkably like Xcelerator. The plans were online a few years back, but I can't seem to find them now. The design never included Rita, and was shortened due to costs.

Nemesis Sub Terra queue: two school kids. 'This is not gonna scare me, I've heard it's *expletive* from the reviews I've read.' 'yeah, I agree with you. It'll be boring no doubt, just like Hex.' Enters building with staff shouting. 'Okay, I wasn't expecting this.' On the actual ride 'Oh *expletive*, I'm hating this!' (Add high pitched screams.)

Oh cocky school kids always entertain me at theme parks hehe! ;)

In the queline for Nemesis Sub Tera these students from london where suggesting what sub terra could actually mean and how this may link to what the ride actually does then after a long intresting conversation one of them asked this question "IS 30 MINUITES A LONG TIME" me and my friend could not stop laughing it is one of those moments that makes queing worthwile ;)

-Bring Back!-

I was going on about SW7 at school to my friend, who then came out with "Yeah, its opening in this new area called 'Under Construction- Coming soon' next year!"
These were her ACTUAL WORDS
Oh My God.
I have never been so.. urgh! Thats stupidity at the worst?!?!?! (My friend won't mind me posting this! But she's still certain that its called "Under construction, Coming soon!"

Not so much a queueline experience as it is a ride but I had to stifle laughter whilst pretending to be a newbie next to some newbies on Th13teen when one of them decided to say that the indoor drop was 100 feet.

Perhaps they were measuring in like... cat feet or something? :p

My boyfriend is scared of rides but I convinced him to go on TH13TEEN. He asked what it was like. "Oh, it's just a bit like RMT really. It doesn't go upside down - that's why it doesn't have overhead restraints. It just whooshes through the trees so I can't really show you it because you can't see it from outside."

He asked me to search it on my phone. "No, you have to hand bags in soon so I'll leave it. You'll be fine."

In the queue, I was telling him to listen out for the "13" (not realising the thing in the middle wasn't working). He mentioned something about it dropping. I was like, "Dropping? What are you on about?"

He went on it, and after the first drop he looked like he was either going to kill me or pass out. I panicked for a moment that I'd done the wrong thing by making him go on it! But he survived anyway. The following day when we were on the Sky Ride I said to him, "Oh, look! You can see TH13TEEN after all!" He just glared at me! ;D

Only an extra naught wrong ;)

Heard a ride host earlier in the season tell a guest that Oblivion was faster than Rita, at 90something MPH. *facedesk*

Well they might have got the figures wrong but at least they got part way there - a lot of people think Rita is faster than Oblivion because of the "0 to 100 in 2.5s" quote that was put around when Rita was new.

Overheard on Rita on Sunday:

"They need people like us, otherwise all their rides would be [censored]. They'd just have ten Thirteens"

Maya, thanks for bumping this thread!

Some of those are brilliant! Also love how one comment turned into the great Intamin debate - someone came on a topic of mine and mentioned about that also!

Seems that one is still a bit of a mystery, wonder if it's like one of those double Mars bar things?

;D

Anyway, much needed giggles today - very funny stuff!
