Legoland Windsor

It seems that Castaway Camp has been delayed again. It was due to launch by yesterday, but has been delayed to an as yet unconfirmed new date.

At least the delay isn't as bad as the Land of the Vikings!

I do enjoy their excuse of the "poor weather" the UK didn't have over winter.

Wish they just actually told the truth that planning permission was originally refused and therefore everything got delayed massively?!

Having deferred the decision from last month, the planning permission for the Haunted House was refused last night, with some of the councillors concerned with the traffic trials just moving the traffic to other roads and the new ride going to make things worse.

It will be interesting to see what their next step is, especially considering the application was recommended for approval. They may have a good shot at approval on appeal.

However, if they want to apply again, I would imagine they would have to agree to changes to the roundabout or to prebooking tickets. Other than that, there isn't much more they can do with regards to new attraction and the emphasis may have to move to refurbishments until things settle down.

Disappointing news as it was an exciting development for Legoland. Hope they reach and agreement with the council.

The irony being that if the traffic lights in Windsor could be altered to better suite the level of traffic this wouldn't be as much of a problem. I hope the park and the council can work together to find a solution to this because as it stands I can't see much more that can be done inside the park to solve the problem.

It's not like guests are going to stop coming if there isn't a new attraction next year. Lego (like Disney) has to strong a brand appeal for guests to be put off by a lack of investment.

Not unless they do something about the horrendous traffic, whenever I used to visit, it was take your time back to the car, finally start the car an hour or so after park close and join the queue, at least 3/4 hour queueing off the car park and then go right at the roundabout to avoid queuing through Windsor.

It looks like merlin have penned a agreement with Warner Brothers the make a new 4D movie based upon the Lego Movie, it will premier in Orlando and will be rolled out worldwide. Here is the official press release.

We’re excited to be partnering with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and The LEGO Group on such a, dare I say, awesome, adventure,” says Merlin Entertainments Chief Executive Officer Nick Varney. “Emmet and Wyldstyle have become immensely popular at our theme parks and Discovery Centers across the globe and bringing this new 4D movie exclusively to our guests continues our Merlin philosophy of creating memorable family experiences.”

The question is, will it be an entirely new adventure following the characters of the film, OR a rehash of the existing film?

Cynicism believes the latter is the most likely option... But it's not a surprise really, hell, Legoland Germany were actually showing the entire film over the course of last year in their cinema...

It will be a brand new film,

The new 4D animated film will open exclusively at the six LEGOLAND Parks and 11 LEGOLAND Discovery Centers in North America, Asia and Europe.
Using elements such as wind, water, smoke and special lighting effects, the larger-than-life experience brings the film’s main characters, Emmet and Wyldstyle, back together with their friends for another awesome adventure.

New cars for the Driving School. They look the same as before (something I'm personally happy about) but unlike the old ones don't look like they've been through a demolition derby... Which you could say they had.
