What rides offer "a bit of everything"?

This comes off the back of the debate in the Fury 325 topic about rides needing variation.

Most coasters specialise in one type of element, such as inversions, airtime, positive Gs etc. But there seem to be very few rides out there that give a varied experience of different sensations. Some rides might offer two, such as imversions and positives (Nemesis). Equally, plenty of rides pick one thing and do it well (Intamin airtime hypers).

I must apologise that I don't have time to write an in depth article on my thoughts right now as I have to go out, but I thought I'd kick this topic off while it's fresh in my mind. My initial thought for the coaster that does everything, and does it well? Helix. :)

What are your thoughts?

My initial thought is also Helix, certainly of all the coasters I have ridden anyway. Launches, ejector airtime, varied inversions, quick transitions. It is arguably the 'perfect coaster'.

I've not ridden but Maverick could be another one.

:)

Maverick is the best for variation.

It offers intense ejector airtime, sensational launch and speed, ridiculous corners and massive overbanks.

iSpeed doesn't do bad either.

With all due respect to Helix, and as much as I rate it highly and want to get on it again soon, Maverick would spit it out for breakfast.

:D

I've ridden neither but Helix looks better to me, not that Maverick doesn't also look world class.

To be honest, and feel free to mock, I'd ague The Smiler is a ride that has it all, or at least most of it. It's got the invesions and positive Gs, but it's also got great airtime, generally a bit ridiculous, got a bit of landscaping and where they bothered it's fairly well themed and presented. Doesn't have much in terms of turns or speed though I guess, and it's not the smoothest.

Agreed about The Smiler, hence why I prefer it to Nemesis, which tbf is probably more intense on average, but for the sheer length and how mad it is, I'd say Smiler offers everything a thrill coaster should.

Helix is wonderful, don't get me wrong. But Maverick offers intense forces and insanity within the layout which is almost unrivalled on any coaster, even now.

When you get to the brakerun on Maverick, you are literally gasping for breath it was that exciting.

Helix flows much more, is more graceful but is also much tamer.

:)

Going to say X2. Airtime, inversions, g-force, near misses, speed, big drops - it has everything.

I think Oziris, at least in terms of inverted coasters, is the closest to offering everything. There's you're typical high G's in the inversions, but also great pops of airtime and floating sensations too.

Good points being made about a lot of rides here. Have to agree with Oziris, in terms of inverts. Maverick looks amazing, but I wouldn't have said it looks like something with a lot of airtime. (But then, I've not been on it).

It's just a shame that Maverick and iSpeed both have restraints that try to behead me whilst riding...

I wanted to love them both, but as they fell under the "I need to hold the restraints in a specific way not to die" ruling, I couldn't find myself loving either...

If you want everything but inversions then I305 is pretty special. Some on here will also tell you the same about Skyrush.
