2015: Alton Towers Enchanted Village

Here's the wrought iron fencing (on the below of the image) outside the Arthur Hall at Europa-Park, such a fence would have looked lovely here:

Here is Efteling's equivalent of this project - the cost to stay at Bosrijk is less than the typical cost of the Alton Towers Enchanted Village:

Yeah, I wonder what the Towers project designers make of the above compared to their effort?

It is a shame because it all looks so "plain". I am not saying it looks bad, it's just not got any WOW factor...! The fact that all the staff that stayed seem to have had good views says it all about the expectations amongst the wider team at Alton Towers. Their expectations are just not high enough!

As entry level accommodation this looks spot on. But it is priced as a premium hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe the staff wouldn't have been saying the same if they'd have had to pay these premium prices to stay there? (I am assuming that the previews for staff were free).

I would quite like to try out the lodges. However I do not feel like I want to part with so much cash for them.

Staff paid £10 pp. Typically, lodges are £200 (£40-£50pp) and treehouses £1000 (£125-£150pp).

Yeah Rob has hit the nail on the head, it doesnt offend but it lacks anything worthy of the price they are charging.
 
Nothing radically exciting, but as a vegetarian I’m pleased to see the risotto comes with ‘vegetarian cheese shavings’ rather than parmesan (which isn’t actually a vegetarian cheese, because it contains non-vegetarian rennet). Quite a few theme parks market food as vegetarian which has involved killing an animal (my definition of vegetarian would be food that's prepared without an animal being killed).

They’re safe options, but for a family attraction that might be for the best.

The Crooked Spoon looks empty and sparse inside but it is all the rage now to have big open plan dining rooms, you see it everywhere now. Personally I hate it as it's always noisy and you can barely have a conversation over the noise. It certainly doesn't look a patch on The Secret Garden - but then was anyone expecting it to be?

The menu also looks generic and uninspired even though I myself prefer simple pub style food. There is just nothing that stands out at all.

And absolutely nothing to do with the fact that mugs are smaller than bowls. After all, it's not as if they want to give you less value for more money.

Wait till you see how dark it is around the lodges at night...

As all you have is main road light poles (which are to far away from the road), and a light on the outside of each lodge on a 5 second time on sensor. Also two LED lampposts by the reception.

I was hoping for audio around the whole area, but there's no sign of any speakers. :(

There must be some speakers somewhere because IMAscore are producing the audio. From the description on the website I think there will be ambient audio around the lodges and walkways.
