Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Re: Thorpe Park

I like it, I don't think the base looks as bad as it could. Any ideas if it has any effects?

I think another trip to Thorpe is in order, after summer obviously!

Re: Thorpe Park

This isn't really in Alton Towers' image. It certainly fits Thorpe Park's, though.

I don't think locals would take kindly to a rave at Alton Towers, with rides running into the night.

Re: Thorpe Park

Has there been any leaked information about the Fright Nights at Thorpe, on the subject of maze changes etc?

I heard a rumour that they weren't bringing back The Asylum maze this season, which would be a shame.

Re: Thorpe Park

The Asylum, as much as it is a "classic" - has been around for so long now. It wouldn't do any harm to see a revamp. Otherwise it's just same old same old. That has always been my main critique of FN - the mazes often change not at all from year to year.

A few changes would be welcome, but to get rid of the maze would be a mistake imo, it was the best of the lot last year.

The other mazes were good but I wouldn't be disappointed to see any of them changed for this year.

Acutel yeah i can see the issues

Re: Thorpe Park

Does The Swarm's island actually have an area name? Saw's area only has Saw: The Ride (minus Saw: Alive) but that still got an area name, and it's vastly likely that there are plans to expand the theme there.

Re: Thorpe Park

^ But Amity Cove is right in the Center. They both have sort of disaster themes, but they are not the same.

Well, Tidal Wave had all that fire stuff so maybe... still, area clash. I'd imagine it'll become separate once it gains a support flat.

Amity Coves is 1950's America, Swarm is very much modern day. Fire does not make a themed area. Thorpe don't have areas as such these days, it's all about getting a ride in and theming that ride to what they desire. They don't try to fit it in around a named area anymore.

Re: Thorpe Park

I think that's the way it should be at Thorpe anyway... It isn't really big enough to have distinct and enclosed themes within different areas. For the coasters to dictate the themes is a good thing, and allows additional rides near them to be themed in a relevant manner. It works better for a park the size of Thorpe's.

I do realise that, thanks. I was just stating that both areas feature fire effects and a widespread destruction theme.

Re: Thorpe Park

Swarm was never meant to be part of Amity.

Swarm's theme is about an alien invasion happening now, and it is happening at the park (The Swarm have attacked Thorpe Park, as it were). Amity, as said by Mark, is a 50s American (fishing?) village.

I guess it's lucky that The Swarm were considerate enough to attack an empty island, as opposed to the core part of the park, ey? :p

Bit more of this wouldn't go amiss though! ;)

Re: Thorpe Park

On park today and swarm and tidal are both suffering severe downtime aswell as saw and inferno both opening late. The system of starting operation on one train is absurd! Especially considering today is a peak day! Its 12 o'clock and stealth and colossus have yet to have another train added. To add to this slammer is closed as we know but what the hell has happened to samuri! Its incredibly tame and was having trouble all the way through its cycle....Not good thorpe:(

Re: Thorpe Park

From what I've seen on Facebook (thus, this is wholly unverified), there's been quite a major accident on The Swarm. Apparently something has fallen from the train during the in-line roll over the station, and nearly hit guests below.

Again, this is entirely unverified.
