Mini Meet EuropAventura - New Year 2016

Please keep Boxing Day (PM) through to January 3rd free if you wish to do this meet in its entirety - nothing will be booked just yet but it's helpful to keep dates free. We may not actually travel out on 26th December nor come back on 3rd January but at least then you have the window available.

Just a thought: this year when planning our evening meals, we should try to remember that on new years day almost all of the resort is closed, leaving only Silver Lake to eat in.

Given that the new Ferrari theme park in Salou is not opening until 'late 2016/early 2017' - I am totally committed to visiting PortAventura this winter as I won't then return until the main 2017 season.

:)

And for that exact reason, I have no intention whatsoever of visiting PA until the 2017 main season.

Well, actually - that reason won't have changed your tune - as it was never going to open this winter anyway.

I will enjoy myself on Shambhala and Khan in the warm Spanish sun.

:p

Starting to change my mind and consider the PA leg of this too - without Simon, who will meet us in EP - so keep me in the loop please!

Ooooh, this trip sounds rather exciting especially the Europa part.

1/ How will the trip organising work as a whole and when would this trip take place?

2/ Any one know good deals via London airports?

3/ which rides are likely to be closed at PA and Europa?

1/ Probably in September This topic will feature information.

2/ Flights will be looked at in September. Depends on prices where we fly from.

3/ PA: Some water rides. EP: Silver Star and water rides.

Dave & I will be at EP 29th - 2nd, doing Phantasialand first instead of PA, as we did that last year :)
We are also looking at heading to Strasbourg on afternoon of 2nd for Beer; Bratwurst; Tarte Flambee. Anyone wishing to join us is more than welcome to. We also have a couple of spaces in our accomodation in Rust if anyone is looking.

There is an early evening flight back to Gatwick from Strasbourg on 3rd, though we will be flying back to Stansted so will either be going from Baden Baden or Stutgart.

Despite doing Phantasialand in the upcoming Kermis trip, I may well be tempted to do Phantasialand instead of PortaVentura mainly because it's not out of the way as much.

This is all still early days, of course.

Update - a check on current prices indicates that Gold River is now the cheapest option, at €466 for 4 people 27th-29th (hotel PA is now €500 and roulette just under €600). The cheapest option would be to fly out the day before (evening flight) and stay in Salou, then transfer to PA in the morning.

It's not as cheap as predicted earlier in the year, but still good value.

Thanks John. We'll look at things in September once everyone has been away to Orlando (those that are, in any case). The main things to sort will be to get PA accommodation booked (deposit only) and also flights.

Accommodation for most I believe is booked in Rust.

I have been looking again at this trip and based on current projections, I would like to suggest that:

- Flights are agreed by the 10th September so people are then free to book them
- Everyone has their Europa-Park (Rust) accommodation booked by the 10th September, I know many have already booked with Pension Sigg a popular choice
- Hotel at PortAventura booked at the end of September (deposit only required for booking)

My current preferences are:

26.12.15
Fly out to Luton to Barcelona. There is a flight at lunchtime.
Transfer to PortAventura.

29.12.15
Fly from Barcelona to Basel. There is a flight at lunchtime.

2.1.16
Fly from Basel or Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden to UK. Optional destinations. There are flights at a variety of times.

Sounds good, though ideally I'd prefer a more northerly UK departure airport if there's a flight arriving the same sort of time.

Current flight prices are by far best value from Stansted.

Also - half and/or full board packages for Portaventura may be an option.

:)

Very interested in this except for the fact that my exams start on the 6th January, will have a think nearer the time.
