Quick Questions 2012

What is the average guests count on a weekday and at the weekend? I know the parks capacity is in the 20 thousands but I'm thinking the park gets a good 8 thousand on a rather busy weekday.

I chose here over "How Busy will it be" as this topic is more active and it's a average question not just a rough guess.

Was just wondering if anybody is at Alton towers tomorrow (16th July 2012)

It varies a bit throughout the year. At the moment the park is in some of the busiest non-event days of the year. I believe the park capacity was increased a year or so back, and is now in the 30,000s (I think it's 35,000 but don't quote me on that)

Yesterday was supposedly 27,000 and today is expected to be busier still. Over the next 2 weeks or so I'd expect there's going to be at least 20,000 on park any day of the week, simply down to the time of year.

When you start to hit around 20,000 is when the big queues start to form :)

Capacity was 28,000 in both 2010 and 2011.

I am not sure if it has been increased this year, but with an additional two attractions I guess it is possible as the figure is partially set at what is seen at not generating an excessive number of complaints regarding queues.

I don't know if it has been increased this year or not, but I wouldn't be too sure because it is also set with traffic and parking conditions in mind. Indeed they have stated that 28,000 is the capacity on planning applications.

Their aim is to increase attendances spread out over all days in the season, not by allowing more people in on any given day.

Capacity is 28k? Then both Pink, last saturday of scarefest and saturday of fireworks went over capacity in 2010.

I believe the capacity is 35k, even if the 28k is stated in planning applications (usually worked out by how many car parking spaces there are).

I was under the impression capacity is 30k+ too...

Generally at this time of the year I guess weekdays can range from 20,000 to 25,000 and weekends 25,000 to 28,000. I heard guest figures weren't that great at the start of the year, so it seems things have picked up since then.

I'm sure it can be revised, particularly this year with the addition of two new attractions. However, in 2010, the highest number of admission on a single day was 29,100 and last year fewer than 28,000.

You still hear wild things about nearly 40,000 people being in the park, but those days are long gone.

Do you think that we will see the return of the blood rivers on Nemesis this year?

They are an iconic part of the ride and, although they do look like a certain brand of blackcurrant juice, Nemesis is not the same without them!

They were nice n dark at start of season. But I guess all the rain has seriously diluted the dye.
They normally get progressively lighter as the season goes by but then for the new season back how they should be, dark... Cleaned out... Working properly! I doubt anything will be done this season now. :-(

They regularly re-dye the water throughout the season, however it appears that they won't bother again this season which is a shame, as they are iconic.

Hopefully they change their mind.

was very dark red a few weeks back, but when we had all that heavy rain and Nemesis was closed for a day, I belive they pumped loads of water out, which would have got rid of alot of the colouring. When I was there 2 weeks ago it had gone pink, then last week when I was there it was completly clear. Hopefully they will re-add some soon!

How many acorns are their on the map. I've counted 6, but a technical 7 is popping up shrunk inside some ice at CCL. I'm pretty sure it's seven upon many visits and observations in my room every day, but it will be interesting to know what you guys think.

02 Priority Moments

As i have a 02 Phone i currently know i can get 2 for 1 at Alton Towers, but i have also heard rumours that you can get discounts of Fast Tracks aswell, is this TRUE?

Some people have said you can get discounts on fast track using priority moments. I have never tried myself, and I think priority moments only work when you are near by the place you want to use it? It might be an offer that they do sometimes but not all the time.

Probably worth loading it up when you get on park and see what there is .

Hi , Just wondering whether Annual pass holders can get 20% off the all day dining offer, I'm probably just wishful thinking but it would be nice?

Is there a 'last admission' time? I'm staying in the hotel on sunday but won't be there until about 2-ish.

I'm not 100% certain on this, but I think from word of mouth the turnstyles normally drop about an hour before ride close. If you have a annual pass you should be able to enter up until this point I imagine, but the ticket booths may close before then.

If you're an annual pass holder you should definitely be able to enter the park around 2ish, given it's a 6pm ride close. I'd be very surprised if you couldn't.

As I was leaving at about three the other day an annual pass holder was on the way in if that helps (and the close time was 5pm)

Hi all,

I was just wondering, if I bought a any day return ticket on the day of my visit, would I be able to use that ticket during Scarefest?

Also, if it was just me and my friend at the park on the day, would we be able to buy 10 or so of these tickets for our bigger group of friends to use at Scarefest for a cheaper price or would we only be allowed to buy the 2 for us?

Many thanks :)
