Scarefest 2015

I just get the feeling that after those 2 hours you'd still feel like you'd been ripped off.

Are merlin trying to price poorer folk out of their market? Because it feels like they are more so every year that goes by.

I did not think £80 was to bad to be honest, considering the time it is at and the location. I am also assuming it will include a ride on Nemesis and Nemesis: Sub-Terra. It is a premium experience aimed at a niche market.

It will be interesting to hear peoples reviews of it.

From what I can gather it's a mix of zombie survival, locked room game, elements of generation of z scare promonade theatre and the sort of stuff you got in the scare rooms. It's meant to be pretty extreme.

I believe there are some deals to be had with accommodation if you want it too. Based on the social media response it will sell though.

I assume this replaces The Ultimate Sleepover from last year? Since they had problems getting that booked on some nights. This extreme maze sounds pretty good on the whole, with an interesting story. Always good to see something new. Personally I wouldn't pay £99 though, too overpriced for my liking, but people pay for these things so I'm sure they will get what they want out of it.

Now I wish they could bring back the scare rooms in ATH!

It would be worth the price if:
  • It was a good maze
  • Rides on nemesis and sub terra
  • Food
  • Very intense experience
  • Slightly different to the maze in the day.

I can already see the queues of enthusiasts with more money than sense lining up outside Box Office to get their tickets.

£99 is absolutely ridiculous.

So you're paying £100 to stay slightly longer in a scare maze you could have gone through at lunch for £10...

As Nick says it's not a scare maze.

I'm going to be honest and say marketing seem to be really under selling this. Based on what I have heard it's a lot more well rounded. With a lot of different aspects and elements.

I'm not sure the price is justified still, but it's not a scare maze.

Interesting idea. I'm thinking this must be a replacement of their 'premium' show which is usually Scare Rooms or that Ultimate Sleepover thing they did.

I did see some one on twitter ask about scare rooms and Towers replied that this is the replacement for the scare rooms this year.

As a few have mentioned I suspect parts of it will be a locked room game similar to Breakout - https://breakoutmanchester.com . They have started to get a lot of fans so I suspect it was only a matter of time before Merlin tried one.

Having done the Manchester one they are quite fun. However they only charge £14-£20 per person so I would hope the other £80 gets you a little more than a extreme scare maze.

With regards to prices, I know Towers like to have rather high ones, but just for comparison, McKamey Manor's Facebook page today posted a link to the top 10 extreme haunted attractions across America. What caught my eye, is that Blackout Haunted House (Los Angeles/New York) - which I understand is a completely different level of extreme to what Towers could ever simulate - costs just $45... that's £70 less than Towers' "from £99" rate.

Take that as you will. :p

It's totally different but I am doing a 5 hour behind the scenes tour of Magic Kingdom in September that is costing a lot less than £99! And that's Disney, they love to rip you off.

Ultimately it does come down to supply and demand though, however much I hate to say it. Clearly the supply this is fairly limited and if the price was lower there would simply be too much demand and a lot of unhappy people missing out. I think a lot of us on here would do it for say £30.

:)
