Hi all!

Just because that needed to be post!

here is a video from Oz'Iris official inauguration show that was played at Parc Astérix on the 2nd June.

You must have a look, it is really good!
And it may be back, played during the nocturn opening in the summer!

Thanks for the link Pierre, just saw the beginning! Now that's how you open a ride!

I'll watch the rest after work!

That is amazing! Cheers for that!! Can't wait to ride it in the Summer. Would have been nice to be riding it during those effects haha but might have got hit/burnt by something haha. ;D

I really enjoyed Oz'Iris for me track and train it beats Black Mamba (doesn't beat theming) Its definately a back row monster, with some really interesting sensations for an invert.

Definately cant say enough how much people need to go ride it.

Is there any reason that the coaster's inaugeration was only done recently?

I rode it on Easter Sunday in April, so I was genuinely surprised when Pierre said the ceremony was on 2nd June!

An absolutely fantastic coaster, which is very well presented in its new area (apart from the Motorway ;)). FIRST DROP - WIN!

It really is a fantastic ride and for me it is a Nemmy beater. That first drop on the back row is phenomenal, it is one of the best drops on a coaster ever for me. The ride just flows so well and the zero-g rolls actually offer zero-g which is something that I had never experienced on a coaster before. It also looks stunning. If you get the chance to ride this, do it!

:)

Needless to say i completely disagree with Rob about the Nemmy beater :)

But its the closest inverter i found yet to our Nemmy

I never actually got round to posting on TT my views on this ride so I will do so now!

The new area, although clearly unfinished when we visited, is bright, kooky and enticing. From the wonky Eiffel Tower stylised obelisk to the cheeky sphinxes around the area it is full of nice touches! The coaster is integrated, yet dominates the area in a really great way that immediately draws you over to the entrance which, with its hypnotizing eyes, really sets the scene for the ride you're about to experience. The outdoor queue line gives you some great views as the trains roar past, while the part has some fantastic themeing and is really a visual treat on all fronts. From the MC Escher style illusion in one of the rooms to the beautiful lighting and colours throughout the rest of the queue and station it really is amazing.

Onto the ride itself and my what a beast! On the front row you really see how steep the first drop is! It is also one of the best drops on a coaster that I have had the pleasure of riding especially on the back row. The ride flows so well and pulls a decent amount of force throughout, although nowhere near the forces that Nemmy can reach. Special mention must be given to the zero g rolls as they really do make you feel like you are floating. Also the zero g behind the station really caught me off guard as it twist the opposite way to every other invert zero g I have been on! Fantastic! :D We tried it on the front, back and pretty much middle rows and it truly is a great all round ride.

It’s the perfect addition for Asterix and this, along with Defi de Caesar, are my main reasons for wanting to return some point soon!

Oh and Dave, I prefer it to Nemmy I think but I agree it wont beat Nemmy on many, many counts! The closest to Nemmy for me in intensity is probably Monster!
:)

I have heard the wheels have been changed on Oz'Iris due to overspeeding?

Is this true?

can't really explain why actually! There has been no advertising campain in France for that coaster, and it remains totally unknown here. I've heard that Astérix wants to do a campain for the summer, so maybe this is a reason.

And concerning the wheels, they have apparently been changed, this is an information from the french fansite potionmagix that reopened recently. The coaster was apparently too fast during the warms days at the end of may, even if the trims before the loop where activated...

I'm so glad that this ride is receiving such great praise. Three reasons:
1) I called it ;)
2) I was disappointed by Mamba and so am glad to see Nemesis has some real competition
3) France really did need another major coaster that they can claim as their own (and not either made by Disney or cloned and brought second hand).

I have been doing this hobby for 25 years and although rides have come close to Nemesis, nothing has matched it. However I was blown away with the ride when I rode it in April. Its taken a long time for a ride to beat Nemesis, but this one really does beat it. I rode Nemesis a week after I rode OzIris, just to make sure and its nowhere near as good.

Interesting news about the wheels... Will have to schedule another visit over there to see if its still the World class ride it was in April.

Its a really impressive, forceful, re-rideable and fun ride and certainly deserves all the praise its getting.

This is so high on my 'must ride' list its unreal. The ride itself looks stunning and the themeing matches that, can't wait till all the landscaping is finished!

Agreed Joelio, it is also on the top of my "to do" list
And I would say another argument why : It's at Parc Astérix, and that parc is amazing. The theming may be good, but it's also full of joke and funny things. Some only understandable by french guests, sorry for you guys. :p

Perhaps Asterix wanted to make sure it was bedded in properly and is running reliably before marketing it widely?

I just find it odd that the coaster has been running for over two months now and wasn't "officially" open!

I'm glad I managed a not-so-exclusive pre-opening ride ;)

Wow.

Oh to get a Merlin ride with a queueline like that. [/never]

Whats with the constant "Merlin never do that" which goes on on this forum. There are very few parks that go to that much effort with their B&M inverters as it is..

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAH!

Videos FTW, Coaster FTW, MAN WRENCH FTW, Track so close to the ground you can jump up and touch it?

This is the first time I have actually seen anything about this coaster, what a head bender that looks!! First B&M in a long, long time that actually looks like it is trying to be a proper intense coaster.

And that QUEUE LINE!??!!?? WHAT!???

That opening video also, even though I must add, Egyptians didn't speak French ;), was brilliant.

Has anyone sent that to Towers? The Smiler opening hint hint??!

Gosh, my word, it isn't often that a presentation/ride gets me that excited!

:twirly:
