Thorpe Park 2017: DBGT: Rise of The Demon

Although I personally do think it could open by March/April, with all due respect, that's nonsense. If it is a complex dark ride, the installation can take just as long as a coaster when it comes to thematic elements, programming and so on.
But... a lot of what you mention is often done before installation, so could have already been done. Scenes are often built and programmed, then shifted and installed finished.

Yes, but it will relate to the theme, even if closely. All I mean is that, watching the videos on simworx, I can't see how they can theme it. Obviously they will.
Right now it could be anything - marketing this early on rarely relates in too much detail to the finished product so I wouldn't worry.

I could say it's going to be Big Brother: The Ride based off the eye because there's so little to go on

There may not be a huge amount to read into the marketing, The Smiler's initial marketing had those banners with DNA helixes and none of the elements that would associate it with the final theme. That being said however, you would hope that a dark ride would be built around a key theme to start with, rather than building a rollercoaster and seeing what theme they could apply to it.

I really hope there are some physical props, if that turns out to be the ride system. An endless succession of screens with no real theming is a waste of a ride, they may as well just kit out the 3D cinema with moving seats.
Plus, we all know how good Merlin are at keeping projectors and screens working...

I noted the Simworx acquisition of robocoaster over on TPM a couple of days ago. I also noted that the main ride will be housed in a big straight long shed. With the big building not likely housing much of the ride at all. With the structure already built, and the out of place tunnel framework already erected. I see nothing more than a Simworx immersive tunnel. I could be wrong but i feel i am being realistic.

We know the ride has a photography unit, so I'm not sure how an onride photo would work on an immersive tunnel? Unless the photo is a pre ride photo, like SAW Alive.

Nick Varney recently described this as being perhaps the 'most innovative' attraction to come to the UK market. I don't believe that he'd say that about an immersive tunnel with Shrek's Adventure having one. It should also be noted that the plans show a wall running down the centre of the entrance to that part of the building, which I would have thought makes an immersive tunnel impractical.

Two side by side trams running at once.

Of course he is going to say something like that. Statements like "the most innovative ride to come to the uk"are lapped up by the general public. Lest we forget, the whole reason for these rides existing in the first place is to get people to part with their cash.

Take I'm a celebrity for example. It is exciting, it is fun, it is the first of its kind.

It is a load of crap.

I don't even know where this mythical 30 million figure has come from. Neither does anybody it seems.

What on earth is that and what exactly are they wanting to trademark?

:)

I believe the images are not part of the trademark.

This trademark has been known about since they trademarked "chronicles of London"

It may not even be for WC16

The images aren't part of the trademark, I was just illustrating ideas around Automatons, which are mostly from the Victorian era, which the theming of WC16 appears to be based on. The new teaser marketing seems to not fit with this however..

I probably watch too much dr who, but isn't there an episode about things called automatons. In not suggesting an ip, but actually the lose idea of it can work. The "a dark secret is coming" image tweeted by Thorpe, the eye on the email page and the copyright for "automatons" could fit in with a Victorian theme. Maybe something along the lines of automatons killing people and you have to escape. Of couse this is pure speculation, but it would be amazing.

Just read over on TPM that thorpe are tweeting that an announcement is coming soon.

Plus a derelict factory is the type of place he would choose for an experiment.

Though Derren Brown the ride just doesn't sit right lol

I reckon it'll involve one of those tunnels as an element. Merlin love their bulk buys. The Derren Brown rumour is... interesting. He's not the most obvious IP, but I do think it would grab public attention. And he'd make an excellent 'host'. Also, his personal brand is very strong. Aside from a few hokey conclusions, he has a strong reputation and doesn't seem the sort to put his name on any old crap.

I doubt it'd be called 'Derren Brown: The Ride' - infact I doubt his name would be in the title of the ride. Most likely would be 'Automaton - presented by Derren Brown' or hosted by Derren Brown.

i just hope to god the "effects" are a little better than the smiler.

when on the ride i can't say I've ever seen the tickler and the hypnotiser and all the other having any impact on the ride whatsoever.
