Well, they can do something about the wasps to some extent. More traps particularly around places that sell food and drinks. Emptying the bins more frequently in the summer. Replacing the old style bins some of which have broken lids with new ones which shut properly and changing the open style bins in many of the queue lines to closed ones. The rear of ATH was a nightmare for wasps. It was impossible to sit outside there with a beer last weekend without being attacked by 3 or 4 of the buggers within seconds. Yet there were no traps around the rear of the hotel at all. Plus, I know its hot, but keeping the windows and doors closed in the restaurants would also help.
Totally agree, there is lots they can do about the wasps and plenty they can do to improve ride available it all comes down to money. Simple fact is lack of people = lack of investment keep that up and it will soon become irreverence, it really doesn't take long.

We just got a Waspinator in our garden. It's an imitation wasp nest that wards off wasps as they are territorial and don't want to be on anyone else's patch. We've gone from being inundated to having 1 or 2 now and then. A simple trick but works. I dunno if AT have tried this technique over the years but it seems to work. Might not be as effective in large areas I would think.

They've had plenty of wasps traps in previous years that have done the job well enough... maybe they need more of those around.

I've seen wasps everywhere recently though. Visited Longleat last week and that place was infested with wasps, bought food to eat in the outdoor area and there were pretty much 5-10 wasps around each table annoying everyone, unbearable!

Wasps numbers are up across the UK this year. according to the arable farming lecturer who is a Entomologist.

All coasters on zero minute queues at the moment apart from Thirteen on a forty minute queue. Weird.

TH13TEEN was broken this morning so that probably explains why it had a queue later on.

It does seem the weather is having a bigger impact than normal at the moment. The park was busy on Wednesday when it was hot, yet today just before the weekend it was dead, but the weather was wet. Normally at this time of year the park is busy regardless of the weather.

AT if your reading... linking X Sector to Cred Street, would bring new life to X Sector instead of it being left out there all on its own to fend for its self.
Chop a few trees down, move a shed or two, easy!

so a while back I said this, and got poo pooed
anyway been reading the Long Term Plans at AT (sad nerd I am) and

"New rides and entertainments areas
8.7 Alton Towers Resort wishes to install a number of indoor and outdoor rides at
the Resort in the first five year period of the Long Term Plan. Some of these
ride proposals would be small scale and located in the existing developed
areas. A new major ride (TH13TEEN) has replaced the Corkscrew ride (this
development was approved in November 2009 and opened for the 2010
season) and a new rollercoaster has been approved on the site of the former
Black Hole). Other major ride opportunities would be promoted in the following
locations: to the east of Nemesis, to the east of Air and to the west of Cloud
Cuckoo Land (utilising land available from the consolidation and relocation of
servicing areas
and the waste and recycling centre on land east of the Duel
ride).

so they could link Xsector and Cuckoo Land after all :D

Would be a good idea so x sector isn't stuck out on its own, there was a lot of tree thinning round that area, who knows might happen some day

I would say if anything is out the way it is the valley, the only difference is that had the sky ride connecting it and also has two coasters and three other rides. The problem with X sector at the bottom is that is has one coaster and one tired flat ride. Plus with the towers closed it really is on its own at that corner of the park. It certainly wasn't as lonely when he Smiler was open.
