Thorpe Park: General Discussion

There is a small garden behind Stealth that hardly anyone knows about, just to the left of the Stealth entrance.
Stumbled across this by accident once. Although it's nice its nowhere near as relaxing as anywhere in towers. This isn't helped by the fact that stealth runs adjacent to it

I think at towers, in the relaxation areas (the towers and the gardens mainly) you get a little lost and forget that your in a theme park. You can't *really* see or hear the rides. Even on the more relaxing rides like hex and duel you forget where you are. At thorpe, you are always reminded that you are in a theme park always. I did know about the garden next to stealth, but sitting under stealth's launch is hardly relaxing.

I understand the premise of forgetting you're in a theme park while wandering the gardens...

But how can anyone forget they're in a theme park whilst riding a themed ride like Hex or Duel? :p

I think saying it's "under Stealth's launch" is a slight exaggeration. It's next door to Stealth and you can hear it.

Maybe it's because I'm not an Alton Towers regular, but when I visit a theme park I don't seek to forget I'm in a theme park because I DO want to be in a theme park. Relaxing for a bit is one thing, but not being able to get away from it all so remotely that you can't even hear the rides is not a thing that would ever bother me.

It's nice that Towers has such large grounds that this is possible, but it's not something I would ever feel the need to do. I love the sound of the rides to be honest.

I meant that you aren't walking around and being bombarded with advertising and games stalls but I know what you mean.

Is that the sunken garden you guys are on about..? I say Thorpe had the perfect mix when you could ride colossus then head to the miniature gardens and then on the boat to the farm. It does lack that green quiet space, but hopefully if they ever extend the island between the park and farm then they could create a quiet space.

Yeah, it's the Sunken Garden behind Stealth. A spot to sit away from the hoards of people, in fact last time I was there not a single person went past in 25 minutes!

As a teen when the teacups used to go right through me i remember having a nap their midday during the first ever Horror nights & fireworks. No one used to even visit then!!!

It will be interesting what Thorpe do with fright nights this year, as they have lost a maze to the new ride and also another maze to I'm a celeb, so will they be two mazes down, or will we see the return of the marquees on the beach.

Also do we know if lions gate is back or is it a whole new theme?

This maze looks a bit more gory than carnival which was in general quite a happy colourful maze, this looks a lot more dark and sinister.

Thorpe have a three year contract with the Lionsgate mazes, so My Bloody Valentine will most definitely be relocated elsewhere in the park (either the empty island near swarm or Amity Beach).

Judging from recent marketing, studio won't be returning and a new maze will be coming instead (along with another experience potentially).

A few updates for my visit to Thorpe yesterday.

- the ending to I'm a celeb seems to have gone back to normal now, with the final room and slide being used.
- The experiment 10/bloody valentine shipping containers are now placed near to the lake and Rush, where the summer stage used to be.
- The fire engine near to depth charge has been removed and replaced by two shipping containers, but no idea what they are for.
- Samurai is in bits so I can't see that opening any time soon!

Also Thorpes reliability was back to its usual ways, at points during the day we saw Stealth, inferno, Rush, Vortex, quantum, Swarm and slammer (we got stuck on that!) go down!

Do huss still make top scans? Can't they just buy a new one (that's if they still make them) and raid samurai for parts?
