Favourite Ride
Th13teen
One of the most hatest secret weapons at the Alton Towers happens to actually be TH13TEEN which is actually my favourite coaster. I love the theme and how the ride creates a gap between rides such as The Runaway Mine Train and intense rides like Nemesis. It is great fun to be on with great theming.

This forum is for us Th13teen fans who accept the bad marketing but realise how good the ride actually is.

I like Thirteen as a family ride, but it would be much better if they didn't trim nearly every drop!
The indoor section is very good though, when the shutter works!

I really love the outdoor part of the ride as it actually gives you a bit of air time and the indoor section is fine if you only ride a few times a season. For a family coaster it is not the most thrilling but one of the best in terms of experience.

I like this coaster a lot, really surprised me when I first went on it, and was fun enough for me to ride that I got off just to go queue for it again. It surely doesn't deserve hate. I wouldn't call myself a fan of it, but i definitely like and appreciate it!

Th13teen is my favourite coaster. Is a sentence I would have typed BEFORE my last towers visit when I did Nemesis etc... It's my favourite coaster in dark forest at least!

Its my favourite 1.2 m coaster, my favourite in DF (in that it doesn't give me a concussion) and i would say it is underrated. If it wasn't for the "magic" marketing department, it would be a world class familly thrill ride. However, its not. Apparently its "every thrill ride i ever dreamed of in one"... Right...

I went with friends who literally know nothing about rides (people who queue for Nemesis, look at air and think they're both the same ride/queue for Rita and are unaware that the rides launches you - granted, inability to be perceptive is probably a contributing factor) and they really enjoyed Thirteen. It's good to go on the ride with people who have no idea the train drops.

Personally think the ride is lacklustre.

To be honest, it is the best family coaster in the UK. You have to forget the marketing because it was advertised 5 years ago not today.

Marketing saying it was the ultimate thrill attraction (or something along those lines) resulted in it being underrated by enthusiasts but the public seem to enjoy the ride. Th13teen is now a key coaster for the park as it is the only SW with a 1.2 height restriction.

I'm not sure how people wanted them to market Th13teen.

I'm sort of picturing some cheesy 80's TV commercial:
"Come on Th13teen, the ride that's fun for the whole family, kids too! It's scary fun that everyone can enjoy, so come down to Alton Towers, home of the new not-too-scary family coaster!"

Come on guys, do we not know how ride marketing works by now? It's a family coaster, and they marketed it as best as possible to drive visits to the park that year to recoup investment. Can we get over it already?

To be honest, the less scary advert was actually quite good. Showing a fairly scary coaster that families will enjoy. The scary advert, well it is completely different.
