Liking Th13teen

To be honest, to me, it is an excellent ride because it is a child's first 'intense' coaster. It is scarier than Runaway Mine Train but not as intimidating as AIR or Rita.
Its a good stepping stone for young children but also thrilling for adrenaline junkies.

It's a really good ride; I don't see why it's so underrated personally. It was my first coaster at towers. I found it really thrilling and intense (I was 10) and to be honest, my interpretation hasn't changed. Some of my favourite AT memories are because of 13. I can remember having 2 women in their 20s who were sat behind me saying that must be really brave (they had screamed all the way round and I had been on it before so knew what was coming). I actually will blame my theme park geekery on 13 :p.

he outdoor section is fun and has good air time (would prefer this section to be longer). The drop is amazing, don't tone it down. It's well themed and uses the mini drop as a great jump scare. The backwards section is so unexpected on the first time. I understand the marketing being questioned, it works for me

Sorry, got a little emotional there :p. Don't criticize 13. It really is a good ride.

See, I think Th13teen's a good ride. The exterior layout could do with being a bit longer, and there are the trims on the first drop (though they were added for a good reason after the ride opened) which dampen it a bit, but apart from that, I like it. I believe the problem some enthusiasts have with it is that it was marketed in completely the wrong way. 'The ultimate rollercoaster.' 'Every coaster you've ever dreamed of in one.' - words to that effect (I can never remember the exact wording used), and the ride didn't live up to those expectations that the marketing campaign said it would. It's not my favourite coaster on park, but it's definitely not the worst one!

No, I think that's right.

Better that Rita, spinball and RMT imo. Even sometimes better than air if there's a good atmosphere (dark, misty etc...) haven't been on octanauts, but I'm sure I'd rate 13 higher

Well, Any things better than spinball!
:D

Only ever been on Th13teen once due to only just getting into rollercoasters and I loved it. Was expecting the indoor drop but I didn't realise that it actually dropped that far! Hoping to get at least 5 rides on it in two weeks when I visit for Scarefest

Tbh in my eyes it rates as AT's 7th best coaster (behind Nemesis, The Smiler, Oblivion, Rita, Sonic and RMT) but is better than Octonauts. Naturally it rates behind things which are great (Olympia Looping, Black Mamba) and behind some good rides (Swarm, Revolution). However it also ranks behind things like DVH which are less coaster, more other things.

I'm a big rollercoaster fan, even though I prefer the bigger coasters, I still love 13. Great themeing, love the inside drop, better drop than that of Nemesis sub-terra.

I think what let it down was the original hype which left people with higher expectations.

For me I prefer 13 over the runaway mine train and spinball. But that's my guilty pleasure :p

Thirteen is a coaster that for me is ok, the first time I rode it was s bright sunny day the while dark gloomy theme was lost s bit. However one scarefest front row at night I got it. This ride needs to be ridden at night. Or on a awful day weather wise.

Is it just me or is the backward section in the tunnel on 13 not as dark during the night time as during the day?

During the day you come in from the daylight so your eyes don't have a chance to adjust to the dark. Obviously at night they are already adjusted before you even enter the building.

I still like Thirteen, the trims have always been a pain and the current ones are worse than the first ones, but it's fun. The outdoor section isn't exactly thrilling but what there is of it is enjoyable. Wish it was longer but don't think it'd have been possible with the restrictions they were under. Drop onwards it's great, but the lack of special effects is a let down.

I like that it's not as intense and scary as it looks, I always thought that was the point, and I'm sure John Wardley said the same, the point is it makes children and those who normally don't ride the 1.4 coasters think they've been on a ride that's more intense and scary than it really is to get them to ride the real thrill rides, which surely is one of the points of family rides?

Anyway, it's much better than Corkscrew was so even though it could have been better, it's still an improvement.

I think that if I hadn't done 13 back in 2010, I don't think I would be on this forum today. It's not my favourite ride in the park, but it's far, far from my least favourite (5th out of big 6)

Outdoor section is great, really tight and technical, feels like something you could build in your backyard and ride on a modified skateboard.

Corkscrew was the first roller coaster I rode (hence the Avatar) and very happy with it's replacement. Wish the outdoor section was longer if anything.

Its a solid concept, which again is poorly executed. The theme could be great but has been left meh. The ride layout could have been great but again has been left short and exposed now the trees are chopped back. The only saving grace I the drop and the tunnel which are excellent and fun. All this said I do have a lot of time for 13, its a nice little ride it could just have been so so much more. Verbolten is how to execute this type of ride....( I know its a different manufacturer but principles the same)
