Fireworks 2015

I LOVE that video... that opening was as epic as 2010's "thirteen" opening with the dramatic music, and all the smoke with the purple lights and gold fireworks - still sends shivers down my spine.

Yes, though it's a real shame they can't carry on that epicness beyond the first 5 minutes of each show. We still have to be assaulted by gash pop music from the previous 12 months.

Whoever thought it was good idea to put fireworks over Jive Bunny mash ups must have been taking some seriously strong mushrooms.

Custom music for fireworks only really works for Disney (Illuminations, Fantasmic etc) where they can use it every night for years. AT won't do something custom for one night, the ITHOTMK music will be used for a few years. Good pop songs with perfectly timed music works great for me. Better than a lazy story with repeated use of stock video footage and insisted use of the word resort.

Avoiding all videos for this, but refillable coffee would work for me every time, and may well be a key purchase on Saturday :)

Pop mashup. Rather just watch some fireworks and enjoy some fun music than have to try and buy into some daft story like I'm not just watching some explosions and lights.

I like what they've done the past two years, a bit of a mix up between themed music and pop mashups. The stories have worked well in 2013 and 2014. Continue like that I say.

I still say 1999 was the best year. Alien invasion plot, a giant UFO prop (that accidently caught fire and everyone assumed it was intentional), and huge fireballs on the lake. :)
Also War of the Worlds. You can't go wrong with that.

It's up !

The team of IMAscore produced the diverse soundtrack for Alton Towers Resort’s spectacular fireworks show, which takes place on the 6th, 7th and 8th of November. Beside of the production of Mash Ups from existing popular tracks and atmospheric scoring, lead composer Andreas Kübler created an orchestral piece of music for the show’s finale. The foundation is the classical piece “In the Hall of the Mountain King”, which is Alton Towers’ theme tune. The whole finale was recorded with the Budapest Film Orchestra.

IMAscore worked very closely with the Alton Towers Resort’s Entertainments Creative Manager Peter Cliff on this project. Without this close collaboration the soundtrack wouldn’t become as immersive and narrative as it is.

That one was totally amazing! I'm still trying to get hold of a video of it.

1998 Oblivion was totally on par. Loved the 2001 display with the Wizard and his pumpkin, and the 2003 Duel one with the zombies in the castle haha! There was so many other great ones too. Hex and also the Air display weren't quite as good but the fireworks and special effects were amazing. Still better than anything they're doing now of course.

1999 was my fave too, Drayton did war of the worlds this year and they really did it justice. My video from last Saturday is below in all of its random blurriness and shakey camera-ish excitement.

Well I will be pre-critical for you. The camera work is abysmal, I didn't have a tripod with me and people kept dancing into me. The Martian tripod also can't be seen on the video. The mixing between some of the tracks on war of the worlds is a bit suspect, most of side 2 is quickly skipped over, but it did the job of getting most of the audience thinking it was the best fireworks show they had seen in a long time (those people having never been to towers fireworks).
