Legoland Windsor

Golden Anniversary? Next year's the 20th, that would be China.
EDIT: oh they mean Santa Pods golden... That makes more sense.

It's sad that this news has only just come out, Santa Pod was introduced before the summer, and no mention of Glastonbury which appeared for the summer months but was recently taken away until next year.

Visited today, the place is now beyond a joke. The place has more upselling than Disney land, and the ride availability/queues are pathetic.

Decided to go on knights quest as our last ride, 15 minute queue apparently. We were very close to the end of the queue (6 people in front of us or something like that) and the last people on that cycle, as they let more than 25 q-bots on a single cycle.

They have signs up in front of the majority of the rides saying "this attraction needs to be clear for 5:30pm. Therefore the queue may close within 2 hours before this". Saying that the rides might close at half three or later isn't very good IMO.

As it turned out, lots of rides had closed by 4:30, an hour and a half before park close.

Also, lots of food outlets were shut all day including Mexican cantina, (adventure land) burger kitchen, and lots of kiosks and cafe's, all of these had signs outside telling you to go to pizza pasta, the premium priced buffet. This is on one of the busiest days, not good really.

The queues for everything were huge. I wouldn't complain about this normally, as it is an event, but it was so infuriating because it was taking them so long to load/unload the rides. It took them 8 minutes to unload and start heartlake express.

The fireworks were good, and made good use of the harbour for the pre show, but it's not a huge area to make your prime viewing area. Standing outside for 2 hours (to get a good spot, and the rides had closed anyway) being ran over by pushchair is not fun. Also shutting the toilets off 20 minutes before the show is not a good idea. It really isn't.

The upkeep so some of the rides is beyond ridiculous. I hit the target in laser raiders dead on several times, yet it did nothing. The queue line used to be interesting, but now they have removed the interactive features. Many of the rides have the same problem, including submarine voyage.

Sorry about the rant, but I'm just really angry after this day and waiting an hour and a half to get of the car park.

The fireworks at Legoland generally get overshadowed by events at other parks, most notably Towers (of course :p), but it is always an incredibly good, and well thought-out, display - often regarded as one of the best displays in the South (as in the whole South, not just amongst theme parks!). Compared to Towers, they're short displays (~10m), but they're perfectly timed to beautifully mixed soundtracks.

The park have uploaded a video of the whole of this year's display, with footage from areas not accessible to the public (various roofs, and the actual firing site), and it's well worth a watch if you haven't seen a Legoland display before :)

Legoland have won their appeal against the decision now to grant planning permission for the construction of the Ghost haunted house attraction. This has now been approved and is expected to open in 2017 unless anything else changes.

:)

Yes!! :)

Looking forward to this after seeing a POV from Germany. Looks really well themed and this will no doubt be a clone.

Where is this planned to go?

On the nice path by the boating school over towards Atlantis. :(

I'm really shocked that Merlin want to build another ABC tower ride after the fiasco that is Sub Terra. If a ride type has issues with smaller people being able to get out of the restraints, it cannot be suitible for a Legoland park!

I assume it works fine in Denmark though?

Fantastic news, this a much needed addition to the Windsor park being a ride that's indoors and one for older families.

Can't wait until this ride opens up.

To be fair Sub Terra isn't the only ABC towers ride they have so maybe the other ones haven't suffered any of the problems Sub Terra has? As long as it avoids problems this will probably be a really good investment for them.

Was scared it would just be a shortened version of the film (*cough* ice age 4D). Like the idea of incorporating the park in the film, let's hope it won't have any "look how good our theme park resort is" and "spend more!"

The use of the park within the movie reminds me of Das Zeit Karussel at Europa-Park. This film has the potential to be very good!
