Drayton Manor Park

Klondike was amazing.

(I may be affected by 20 year old memories being nicer than they actually were)
I've only ever been on it at Hayling, I actually quite enjoy it but most people find it far too rough.

That said, I'm glad I got my last goes on it a week before Hayling took it down as it was my first looping coaster. No idea where it's going now, but the scrapyard would be my guess given the state it was in.

Wait, Hayling demolished it? Oh well, it was one of those cases of "nice theaming, shame about the ride".

Drunken Barrels was a stopgap since they had to get rid of their Enterprise (which is now at Thorpe)... Noise complaints were a big issue at Drayton a while back...

Excalibur is (was?) awful, did they really spend that much on it? Then again tow-boat rides (or mainly their theming) is difficult to fix and maintain on a regular basis...

G-Force is probably better than Klondike (and would be actually rideable if they fixed the restraints crushing everyone and a second train)...

It's a shame that the rest of the park is seemingly suffering due to the success of Thomas Land, Paultons is starting to expand the rest of the park based off Peppa Pig World, Drayton should start doing the same...

Is that why the drunken barrels building is so tall? It used to have an enterprise inside? Or was it just on that site before?

That was just the site the Enterprise was on, it wasn't situated inside a building.

The noise pollution thing at Drayton was ridiculous, especially in the mid 00s when people were told they couldn't even scream on rides.

The reason that the Drunken Barrels building is so tall is because when the ride is working properly, it will tilt upwards, like an enterprise would do, probably about 45 degrees. I've only seen it happening once before (this year, actually) and because of the spinning of the barrels, it adds nothing to the ride experience, but it's quite cool to watch nonetheless!

i recently saw their new recruitment video, which is very good. i really hope to work there one day, as a "Rides Guest Host"!

Drayton Manor announced today that in 2015 they broke their alltime attendance record with around 1.2m guests which was 10% up on 2014, while they did expand thomas land last year i imagine they picked up some guests that went to Drayton instead of going to Alton Towers over the Summer.

That's brilliant news! It's good to see the small park still growing!

And we have even more Thomas expansion to look forward to this year! ....yay

Hmmm, that's true. Strapping a youngling in to one of those things might legally count as child abuse.

I'm pleased to hear about the attendance numbers. The Thomas Land expansion doesn't surprise me, and at what point will the park be called "Thomas Land featuring Drayton Manor?" :p

I can shed some light, we all know how Drayton act SOMEtimes* asin the attitude they don't give a toss aka customer service etc

ANYWAY, a budget was put aside for Pirate Adventure.. But it went missing. HR did some digging turns out one of the rides managers were taking a "bonus" shall we say out of EVERY new ride budget for himself including most recently Air Race!

And when questioned understandably he "suddenly" left the company. Shame that people like this work in this industry, I assume Manor are taking him to court. I know I bloody will! But what are the off chances of HR looking into his receipts and statements so on. Crazy!

It is good Drayton Manor is expanding Thomas Land but isn't it just an excuse for the park to not add anything thrilling. They need to realise however strong the brand is, people like me are not interested and will rather go to other parks like Alton Towers and Thorpe Park for me. I will not go to the park due to the lack of good thrilling rides and coasters.
