Following on from something similar that PicSolve used to offer in the past, they've re-introduced it and are allowing visitors who purchase an ORP at the park to download their picture for free once they get home...

http://www.altontowers.com/photos/ gives the details, whilst http://www.picsolve.com/ is the site you can get the photos from... All you need to do is enter a 12 digit code from your receipt and you will be able to download your image.

I'm currently unsure if you can find pictures from earlier this season.

This is great!
Now I don't need to buy a scanner!

Unfortunately, photos from earlier in the season do not work, unless I've used a Blackpool receipt by mistake...

EDIT: I used a Blackpool one, and I can't find a receipt for Alton.
Someone else needs to try...

Don't have a receipt but tried a 12 character code from a physical Nemesis photo from earlier this season and it doesn't work... However, they may be different codes.

Don't think it works with photos earlier this season. Just tried to enter the code from a Flume photo from May this year and says I've entered an incorrect code. :(

It's amazing that it's taken until 2012 to implement such a system!

Hopefully this will lead towards digital-only ORPs. 50p to a pound seems reasonable. Then I might buy my first ever ORP! :p

Surely digital only is the way forward? Id sooner pay a quid to have a copy emailed home than a physical photo to carry around for the day, and the A4 size is bit large too. Also if they were digital they can be popped straight onto Facebook, twitter etc - and publicise the park a lot too!

Seems a really good system to have in place been able to have a hard copy and being able to use the digital photo for personal use on social networks

Picsolve clean out images from their database 30 days after the image was taken. So if you had an ORP taken over 30 days ago then it will not be available to download. :)

This has to be the next logical step. Can be downloaded via the resort wifi or even the official app to phones for impatient people like me lol. I never buy ORP's, price and faff of carrying puts me off, but if this system was in place I'd happily buy 4 or 5 throughout the day.

They're also doing this at Chessington, I bought a Tomb Blaster one on a keyring and downloaded the photo and put it on Facebook (At request of some TSTers :p). It's quite good though, It saves you money and is easy to do! :)

I hope they don't completely phase out 'real' printed photos, I do enjoy having them and plan to put them up on my wall when I get a place of my own...

Keep both systems, printed and digital, allowing both sides of the coin to be fully enjoyed...

But last week, I put the code in from my Swarm ORP, which was taken at the start of April. It showed up fine and I was able to download it easily..

Maybe it's to do with the Park's request or something or another.
:)

Weird. I'm sure it's every 30 days they clean the database out (well I'm sure they do it at Alton). May be the time frame has been extended since.

I really like having printed photos to keep, but I cannot justify the extortionate price tag :-/!! I would seriously consider the digital option, but doesn't the resolution equate to something odd like 9x6?

I remember thinking the ratio was completely off if I ever wanted to print them myself...

Apologies, first off, for bumping an old topic.

However, I have a quick query that seems better placing in here than the 'QQ' topic - How long does it take for a Photo to be available to download vis the portal? I purchased a photo in Splash Landings Hotel, on the chair, and it's telling me the code I have entered is incorrect. It's definitely not - I have tried in capitals and lowercase, but to no avail.

It does say 'allow 24 hours' but just wondered as mine has exceeded that now...

From past experience it can take a couple of days to come through - not sure if that's standard procedure, or if the system's just buggy though. :p

I can't see them dropping the price anytime soon, I can just see more people putting their digital photos on social networking sites. I guess I'm the only one on here to like physical photos? It kinda makes your onride photo collection seem more, valuable?
