I think people are getting confused with "they are attached" and "they will attach"

I don't think they are built in, they just attach to the craft. Alton Towers have said that the headsets will be cleaned after every use, that would be very difficult to do without significantly affecting the throughput if they were built into the craft.
Yes my bad lol so yes what you said in ur previous post makes sense

No idea how they are doing it but they are clearly going to be attached to the crafts securely enough to allow them to reside without problem for those who wish to ride without VR.

I'm looking forward to getting throughput calculator out on Air/Galactica next season, if they hit 1500pph as they say I will be shocked!

:)

Do we think there will be many times they need to hit 1500 per hour? I can't see the next few seasons being too busy unfortunately :(

Not really, although throughput still needs to be efficient.

I'm interested in seeing how it all works out. I cannot see throughput being the same, although I wonder how bad it will get/how much faff the VR system will cause.

*Hopefully* it's all be well thought through.

Did Air every used to get 1500? I thought its theoretical was 1400 but it never quite hit that?

How is the optional aspect going to work if the headsets are attached to the seats? Will there be somewhere above your head to secure it to? Or will it have to be removed and re-attached between cycles?

I think for the optional reason and cleaning the headset will not be permanently fitted to the restraints. It looks from the images we have seen so far that it will clip to a short restraint with a wire on the other side. If the headset was fitted before loading then put over your eyes as you were about to be swung into position they could keep them clean and keep up throughput and sort out any faults with the headsets.

It has to be attached to the train with something a little more solid than a wire bond, or it will flap about and smack you in the face.

No it will be attached to your head as any vr system would be the cord to attach it to the ride restraints is only to stop it falling off and hitting anyone should it come off your head for any reason. It's how it looks in the picture

I know the 3D glasses in Disney are used once only and then washed. After you dump them in the 'bin' at the exit of the theatre they're sent through what is essentially a big dishwasher for 3D glasses backstage at Epcot. This mitigates any risk of communicable disease passed through reuse, such as the dreaded 'pink eye'.

I know the VR headsets themselves aren't going to go through the same process but I can't see how ops wiping each headset between rides would be practical. I wonder whether there might be some form of glasses you are given pre-ride which purely function to separate the person from the VR headset. Sort of separating your face from direct contact with the headset in a similar way that a hairnet would work in a helmet. These glasses could be either disposable or in a similar vein to the 3D glasses, dumped into a receptacle at the ride exit and then sent for cleaning backstage where throughput is not effected.

How many VR headsets will there be exactly? I imagine there will be quite a few because one train of riders will use it and then it'll be cleaned. But I can't see it being cleaned in 1 or 2 minutes, so another train of riders will use a different pair.

Exactly. There will be loads, and won't be cleaned immediately before the next shuttle.

Come on guys... I know they've been a bit shit lately, but give them a bit of credit. Don't make them fail before they have.

I'm so excited for this but maybe that's because I think Air is the most boring ride there.

What happens if the you get a stop on the lift hill. Does the vr loop or switch off? I'm sure h+s would have something to say about stranded guests in a virtual world.

Can you take you headset off at any point?
The VR won't be a video, otherwise its not quite VR, it will be like a game, where your movement is controlled by the actual coaster. Picture a virtual camera that moves as the wearer does.

By the sounds of what AT have said, I would assume you can't take the headsets off, they seem fixed to the restraints, but I'm not sure. Plus it probably won't do the headsets any good dangling

The resort have confirmed that you can ride without the headsets. I'd assume there'd be some sort of way of securing the headset to the craft to stop it from knocking you out :p
