Blade should probably have gone over ripsaw though. It's going to be a very weird season with virtually no flats.

So the flume is going... Every theme park needs a flume. Alton really need to buck their ideas up.

Hopefully it will be replaced soon with a more modern flume; it was more than 30 years old, and did need replacing. I agree that it is an important ride for a park to have, but I wouldn't mind too much if if we got a water coaster or similar.

The flume occupies a lot of space and could easily be replaced with a large scale dark ride. A water coaster like Journey to Atlantis would fit as well. Pirate themed for Mutiny Bay!

I'd rather they sort out a dark ride in the CATCF warehouse before going building new dark rides in new buildings!

Some kind of half inside/half outside water ride/coaster/modern flume could work well though. Could work well for a 2017 project.

I agree, if they replace it then great... But will they? It doesn't seam like one in one out with Alton. Surely the ride lineup should increase... Not decrease?! I understand they have to make room for new attractions, but not every time at the expense of an old one. If so, I would sooner them leave the park as it is because the newer stuff just doesn't cut it.

Is Charlie big enough to house a proper immersive dark ride?

You know the more I think about it, the more I think it's a possibility, they do lack indoor attractions but with how the industry has gone, and yes you can compare Universal given Merlin's profits, I just can't imagine it being anything other than mediocre at best.

I still believe removing Flume was ludicrous without a replacement, in fact more closures.

Fail to believe they couldn't get it through one more season before it's replaced.

Alton without a Flume ride is daft.

The Blade isn't closed, and that image was taken during the 2007/2008 closed season during an extensive maintenance session.

There is so much large empty space that was never used for Charlie. With where the ride/lifts take up and the masses of empty space in the warehouse, they could easily add something on a large scale in there. If they gutted it out the possibilities could be endless.

realistically could the get rid of CRR? It is a broad area but it seems like it would be a lot of work to remove it all especially near the runaway train

They could get rid of anything if they wanted to, although I am sure that the Rapids are totally safe. They're popular, a theme park staple and still some of the best rapids that I have ridden.

In terms of Charlie, of course it is now closed but I would be happy for it to never open again and be removed, so long as it is replaced with a new family dark ride in say 2019.

:)

They have also made small updates to the rapids in recent years!

I pride myself on going on every ride at Alton Towers over a year. (with the exception of Cbeebies land) But the Charlie ride never appealed to me.
