PortAventura World: Ferrari Land

On a scale of 1-10, how much interest is there *actually* in this coaster?

I feel it's just a damp squib. Which for Europe's tallest is, well... a shame.

4 we've got stealth which is identical just the height and a bit closer to all of the big American ones but being affordable to get to along with the Ferrari name and PA makes my interest in the COASTER a 4 but the new park I have more interest in.

It would have been more interesting if it broke the world record and not the European one. I'd give it a 2, it's boring, but seeing the bent track makes for a good laugh.

0? Once you've done 0 - 128 mph in 3.5s on Ka, 0 - 111.9 mph in 5.0s on this isn't really going to compare favourably. I have no doubts that it will provide an excellent thrill but there are so many more exciting coasters being built out there right now. Think Taron, Wildfire, Lightning Rod, heck even Hulk being re-built is more exciting than this coaster!

:)

For us who can only dream of getting out to the US for Ka etc its the best?? Which is easy and cheap to get to. Depends on who it compares to Stealth for me.

My interest only extends as far as seeing how badly they can screw it up :p

I'd be more onboard with the image distortions from the heat etc. arguments if it didn't look wonky in every picture we have so far, including close up:

I like Stealth, too. But this, I don't know... Stealth/TTD/KK were all 10+ years ago...

Where is the progress in this?

:(

A lot of interest, I mean this topic always seems pretty active, even if it is mainly with people, who are apparently experts in coaster track appearance, ridiculing the project.

Is that all?! Kingda Ka already isn't close to being the fastest accelerating coaster so that is awful really- Baco demolishes that for example.

Normally I'd agree with you about people being armchair experts, but in this case there's actual photographic evidence that it's not straight. I'm sure there'll be some footer shifting and bolt torquing to correct it, but at the moment it looks laughable! :p

I got bored so I've selected some coasters to do an acceleration comparison*!
  1. Dodonpa - 26.55m/s²
  2. Stealth - 18.82m/s²
  3. Forumla Rossa - 16.66m/s²
  4. Kingda Ka - 16.35m/s²
  5. Top Thrill Dragster - 13.41m/s²
  6. Blue Fire - 11.10m/s²
  7. Rita - 10.92m/s²
  8. PA Ferrari Land coaster - 10.00m/s²
So, yeahhhhh!

Think Rita, but imagine that going on for double the length of time!

*Data from RCDB, and assumes constant accelerations which may not always be the case (but gives a good idea still)

:)

Thanks for the effort, Rob...that`s interesting.

So the launch will be LESS powerful than Blue Fire`s. Ummm o_O

Xcelerator would come in there (5th) at 15.9m/s²!

Stealth <3

10th, as @AstroDan says, is not progress.

Also, actually 11th it seems from @Alastair's post.

That's REALLY disappointing!

That does add some credence as to why Stealth feels like such a good launch.

I quite enjoy Rita's launch as well, but to be less powerful than that, my goodness!!

Nice work @Rob

Actually, Storm Runner at Hersheypark would take 5th with 16m/s². So Xcelerator would go 6th and Superman Escape at WB Movie World Australia would take 7th with 13.8m/s². ;)

I'm sure there must be more...
  1. Dodonpa - 26.55m/s²
  2. Fluch von Novgorod - 19.82m/s²
  3. Stealth - 18.82m/s²
  4. Formula Rossa - 16.66m/s²
  5. Kingda Ka - 16.35m/s²
  6. Storm Runner - 16.0m/s²
  7. Xcelerator - 15.9m/s²
  8. Karacho - 15.61m/s²
  9. Superman Escape - 13.8m/s²
  10. Top Thrill Dragster - 13.41m/s²
  11. iSpeed - 12.61m/s²
  12. Blue Fire - 11.10m/s²
  13. Lynet - 11.10m/s²
  14. Rita - 10.92m/s²
  15. PA Ferrari Land coaster - 10.00m/s²
EDIT: And iSpeed would go 11th at 12.61m/s². Wait for it, Fluch von Novgorod goes 2nd with 19.82m/s², and Karacho 8th with 15.61m/s². Lynet ties with Blue Fire at 11.10m/s². ;)

iSpeed's got an acceleration rate of 12.62m/s², so that pushes the new PA launch coaster down even further.

Things faster than a FERRARI branded coaster :tearsofjoy:

A snail.

I just want to draw everyone's attention back to my earlier post....

No, to be fair, you're wrong, I delved deeper into this and found the actual cars being used!!

I will spoiler them of course.

IT WAS MEANT TO BE A JOKE! NOT REAL!

Also @AstroDan, add me as a 0

I can walk up a big hill faster.

Got another one - 'Speed - The Ride' at Nascar Café in Las Vegas had (I believe it's now been removed, having been SBNO since 2011) an acceleration rate of 10.06m/s², despite a top speed of only 45mph. Guess it doesn't count, though, given that it doesn't exist any longer. :p

Atlantis Adventure, Lotte World, South Korea - 13.89m/s²
Dragon Legend, Romon-U Park, China - 11.80m/s²
Junker, Power Land, Finland - 15.27m/s²
Shock, Rainbow MagicLand, Italy - 10.55m/s²
Superman: Escape from Krypton, SFMM (also Tower of Terror II, Dreamworld, Australia) - 6.39m/s² (quite a bit slower than the others, but included as a bit of a reference point)
Takabisha, Fuji-Q Highland, Japan - 13.88m/s²
Yamaha Racing Coaster, Trans Studio Indoor Theme Park, Indonesia - 13.88m/s²)

Yeah, I kinda got a bit bored and did some trawling through RCDB. :p
