Don't think it will be pirates themed just think they have used the mutant Bay theming on the sign. Few shops etc closed recently in this area, coincidence? Hmmmm

Talking to my friends about what they want alton to have next all they say is coaster. None said experience or water ride ....

Your friends aren't just the only part of the general public though, are they? Most of my friends outside this forum don't care what a park (whether it's Towers,Thorpe etc) gets, it's the same argument, but neither really apply. If you did tell most people who visited Towers that The Flume had gone, but it would be replaced by a more updated version. I reckon they would still come to the park if it were built.

Harsh..

Poseidon's Fury is the walk through at IoA which tbh, I wouldn't mind being installed!

You're probably referring to Journey to Atlantis, which I don't recall being painful at all. I have a strong feeling it'll be something along those lines from Mack however.

Sorry - my mistake. If it was anything like Poseidon's Fury I would be over the moon. It's a pity that it wouldn't fit Merlins 'identity'. That said, if Derren Browns Ghostrain works then the chance of there being a walk through attraction increases.

Interesting what you said about Journey to Atlantis - I felt it was incredibly uncomfortable and the worst water ride in Orlando! That said, it's the only water coaster I have ever been on so I'm not going to make my mind up on one experience.

I don't think it'll be a wing coaster, there isn't enough height for them to do anything with it and they're slow and lumbering enough when they're tall!

I don't think it'll be a Wing Coaster either. In fact, I don't think it'll be a B&M at all. If it's a coaster, I'd love Mack, regardless if its a water coaster or not.

Everyone is forgetting the "ground-breaking" bit, I think it's a clue, I'm thinking oblivion 2, dig!

Tbh I'll be happy with another woodie or a Valhalla like ride. It doesn't have to be a world first etc, just would like it to be an awesome ride :D

Sw's are always firsts not always world's first but it would be good to get a solid ride with good theming rather than a gimmick

I think this is a good time to bring up wardleys "a gimmick for the sake of a gimmick" rule. You could argue that nemesis was a gimmick, or oblivion, or air, but they (in my opinion anyway, you could argue air doesn't) all work and make it a better ride, though I can guarantee that m£rlin Will be looking for a usp. JUST BUILD A GOOD NON-GIMICKY COASTER FOR ONCE!

I remember when Helix was being built, Liseberg said that they just wanted to built a good ride. And of course they succeeded! I know Towers can build a great coaster without relying on gimmicks. Smiler; with its record breaking inversion count aside is this.

You only have to look at Nemesis to see that just concentrating on building a great ride works out really well.

"World's first" should just be a nice bonus if the ideas come to the table. Not a key priority before even starting going through the planning stages.

A water ride/half dark ride would be fantastic to see on The Flume site. I hope that they stay away from coasters for now (unless it's a woodie or water coaster). Towers has a solid line up on that front.

I would just like to rekindle an old rumour....

There was a rumour AT signed a two ride deal with intamin the first being a wooden coaster in forbidden valley the second being a new flume style ride in mutiny bay, opening in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Could it be this has been flipped and put back I.e. Flume 2017 coaster 2018

My understanding is Altons relationship with Intamin is rather strained after Rita & Th13teen

Didn't the LTDP say a dark ride is due soon? Just a thought although I still think it's more likely a tracked ride

Well, Charlie has just closed ;)

I too am all for variety, and would love to see something along the lines of a Mack Water Coaster. However, that entire area of the park doesn't really have a major coaster, where as 3 other areas pretty much have JUST coasters. Meh. The whole park is a freakin mess. Dark Forest being so far at the top of that list, it's above the tree line.
