According to RCDB, it'll be called Sharp Trip.

One wonders if it'll include a hammerhead turn...?

I hope it's a nippy little Gerst like Troublesome Trucks! :)

Shark Trip is the name of an off-the-shelf layout from SBF Visa Group. There are currently 2 in existence and both are called Shark Trip, so that would seem the most likely candidate for this ride.

I'm not sure if there's already another topic for this, but this year Devon's getting at least two 'new' coasters at Crealy and The Big Sheep. The Big Sheep's getting the coaster that used to be at the Metro Centre in Gateshead. This is old news, but they recently posted a construction picture on their Facebook page:

Although it's second hand you wouldn't know it from the picture, and I think most of the park's visitors will be very impressed by it. I always thought the best bit of it was the enclosed lifthill with the chaser lights which probably won't be on the one at The Big Sheep. Nonetheless it's impressive for them to be adding such a large ride. Incidentally they've owned it for a good few years and have presumably been raising the money to do something with it. It's nice to see a park that's able to think long term enough to buy a ride they don't have the funding to do anything with, and I wish them the best of luck with it.

Major bump to this topic, only cause I wasn't sure if this merited its own separate topic but apparently The Big Sheep has put up signs asking visitors not to scream on The Big One! Thou shall not emit sounds of enjoyment etc.

How the hell did they get permission to build the thing then if the noise would be too loud? At the end of the day its a natural response to get excited and loud on coasters, they can't really stop anyone from doing it, I mean its not like theres a punishment for doing so people will scream and thats that. The people of cornwall obviously have the most sensitive ears in the UK...

Erm, the Big Sheep's actually in Devon. ;)

Sooty has been associated with several parks over the years, the footage in that video is from Brean as the park owners had the rights to Sooty for a while, so gave him a big presence in the park and the park a big presence in the Sooty show.

Previously, when Sooty & Co was produced for CITV by Granada, he appeared at Camelot - which was also owned by Granada at the time. The park featured on an episode of the TV show and there was a Sooty show at the park, though right-hand-man Matthew Corbett only appeared in video in the latter.

Best use of IP I think I’ve ever seen in the theme park industry. Amazed Merlin didn’t snap this one up - another Peppa Pig no doubt. I expect a Sooty theme park in Florida within the decade.

Interestingly, as has been touched on, Sooty has appeared at both Brean and the Granada Parks in the past (Camelot, Granada Studios and I think American Adventure too). There’s never been an entire land before though, rather just shows, films or exhibits.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he spent a time at Pleasurewood Hills in the late 80's/early 90's too.

Historical perspective by the resident old git...
July 19th 1948...Sooty was "discovered" in a novelty store on the magnificent North Pier in Blackpool by the lovely Harry Corbett.
"Right hand man" Matthew was Harry's son, he only took over after forty years or so, from his dad, because his dad had developed anal warts round his wrist.
He has toured Britain for over half a century, still pulls in the kids, and has appeared in a number of places at the same time!
Think there might be a number of imposters.
