It depends on what your understanding of a water ride is.

An old school triple drop log flume probably would be past its sell by date now, something a little more innovative wouldn't be. Take stormforce 10 at Drayton Manor for example, something along those lines would be great, arguably with a bit more theming.

It doesn't even have to get you drenched as others have pointed out we're not in Florida and it can make the day a little uncomfortable.

For me I love water rides, ideally one with a strong theme, I think Alton need more than just the rapids personally and I'd much rather see that than another coaster which in my opinion isn't required, although I accept this appears to be more family orientated.

This is true, we have lost most of them now... Blackpool's, Thorpe's, Camelot's, Alton's... actually, do we have a flume left that's not a travelling one?

Blackpool still have their flume, it's the rugrats lost river. Towers could do with a water ride like that in CCL.

Like said above, flume need to be more interactive even part dark ride. I feel a replacement for the flume at Alton would be of this ilk. Possibly coaster corner?

We need to see commitment from Merlin to invest in a whole story with whatever water ride the replace the flume with. I would look towards Mack as they have proven options available to create part dark ride/ outdoor ride.

We know thus far that we will not be looking at a new water ride the old flume site, I'm sure we will be looking at a top class ride (whatever category it falls into) for this site. But when they do go for a new water ride we may see something experience based. I'm sure in nemesis 21 talk, both Merlin and John Wardley said that they are now looking towards experience based rides. Hopefully they keep to this and it will mean good things for SW8.

Perhaps a new water ride could go inside the Charlie warehouse? Aside from the whole Charlie theme being pants, the ride system is pretty boring and those lifts became outdated far too quickly. Why not gut the whole building and start from scratch with a new themed water ride. CCL/Coaster Corner really needs something done to it. I hope that's where they gear towards after SW8.

Blackpool used to have another log flume where Infusion sits now, which was aimed at an older audience. You're right though, technically they still have one, but they're main water ride these days is Valhalla. I would like to see a flume the size of Rugrats in Cloud Cuckoo Land as well.

In the right location an updated flume system could work just as well as rides like Chiapas without all the additional build that makes Chiapas so wonderful. Area behind CCL could be ideal as the woods could be used in such a way to be immersive enough to forget you're on another flume ride.

We will never see the kind of budget required to build something on the level of Chiapas, but we can still see something built if the right person with the right imagination works on the project (yet to be proven with Merlin IMO)

Indoor flume ride like Valhalla would be perfect for Coaster Corner when they finally get their sh!t together and reopen this area of the park.

It's the perfect location for a collection of indoor rides (to keep the noise down), including an epic new dark ride, and maybe even a new ice show.

Indeed, sadly the odds of the UK ever seeing another dark ride on the scale of Valhalla again are zero. :(

We seem to be drifting quite a way off topic from SW8 here. Please use the existing New Log Flume thread for discussion regarding the possibilities of a new water ride/flume being added in the future.

Thanks.

:)

To replace the flume i would like to see a wooden style coaster similar to rmt but it goes through long tunnel sections maybe one with a chainlift section halfway through that corporate water, lighting effects with a unique western theme to it!.Fit in mutiny bay well i reckon.
Either way towers will produce the goods in replacing that area with something special.
