Thorpe Park 2017: DBGT: Rise of The Demon

The problem with this second delay is not that there are some form of problems and it is delayed - that can happen and it is understandable that they want it to be at a certain quality when it does open. We saw how opening a ride on time but not to a good enough standard ended with Sub-Terra.

The problem here is that for a second time they promised an opening, this time by the end of May. Even the TV advert stated this. I'm sure they thought that this could be achieved but in doing so they've once again let their customers down. After Lightning Rod was intially delayed at Dollywood they did not state when they hoped to have it open by so the fact that it has soft opened over the last couple of days has come as a nice surprise. Phantasialand still have given no indication of when Taron will open this year; there's every chance that they wanted it open by now but delays have also taken place here however the public will always be none the wiser about this. It is frustrating if an opening date is not given but it does save customers being let down if delays take place.

I expect we may see more very vague opening timeframes given at theme parks going forward.

:)

If it is Derren Brown who has said its not right, THANK GOD!, While Im not a fan of magicians of any kind at least as a person he has some bottle and has refused to have his name potentially damaged by a poor ride.

I find it amusing that both Disney and Universal point blank refuse to give opening dates for rides, the 2 biggest global theme park management companies just give a vague idea. These are the absolute big boys of theme parks. Then Merln roll up in their 1984 Ford Fiesta announce a date for their over-done-gimmick ride, then put it back then either end up opening it to bad reviews or push it back again.
Merlin - stop trying to out do the big boys - you aren't one. Just do medium rides, and do it well.

I was originally really interested in this, but the fact Galactica is getting poor reviews for the visuals, the IP doesn't interest me, the story seems hilariously poor and its now running months behind - I think I'm done.

THIS IS THE 13:45 TO ENTHUSIASM. THIS TRAIN IS CANCELLED. PLEASE FIND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES.

It will be 2017 at this rate. Could be down to technical issues. I have the feeling we will see a lot of downtime on this

not sure how they'll stagger groups going in to the main ride section, as they'll need to clean the VR headsets (an issue similar to on Galactica, and I'm not sure how many headsets there will be either). someone ought to invent self-cleaning ones!

Throughout may be appaling too. Thorpe has crap throuhpit on most of its rides too. I was excited by this, but to be honest I have lost interest. I was hoping for a good strong ghost train, basically a modern haunted house. This could be amazing but I just can't see it somehow

Any guesses on how many people can fit in a carriage/how long it will take to move people through the carriages? The queue is going to move painfully slowly, especially if a carriage goes down.

58 people to a carriage apparently or sure about how long

So, just worked out that (assuming that there are 3 trains (each holding 58 people) and the entire 13 minute experience is spent on said train (which I doubt, but I have nothing else to go off)) this ride has a theoretical throughput of 803pph (not accounting for loading or breakdowns). If that sounds bad enough, think of that when it's being killed by fast tracks.

The whole experience is not in the carriage that's just part of it
Maybe not, but the throughput of a whole attraction is only as good as it's slowest bottleneck. Just look what happened at the old London Dungeon with the boat ride and Vengence.

Source? We don't know anything right now.
Size of building. Size of carriage. Promo shots.

I can't see any possible way that there can be more than one. Clearly the whole experience is made up of more than just the carriage segment and thus that is how the throughput will be kept decent. In my opinion anyway.

I've booked for the MOS night on July 23rd and I was thinking there will be loads of time for the ride to be up and running before then. I'm starting to think with the lack of news I should have booked the October MOS night instead

It seams to have been forgotten about doesn't it. Think all the hype has worn off. Not excited for it at all now. I will ride it when I ride it. Not planning a special trip for it.
