Rollercoaster Restaurant: General Discussion

It's a weird one, the best comparison for it is actually a real rollercoaster! The company (in this case HeineMack) provide the hardware and software, work with the park on the design, provide training to staff etc. The operator (Alton Towers) operate the restuarant as would happen in a normal franchise but they have their own unique menu that will have been largely developed in-house.

You can read more about the RollercoasterRestaurant operating models here. I would imagine Alton Towers are a license partner rather than a franchise partner.

On a seperate note, the new RollercoasterRestaurant in Vienna looks awesome!

:)

There are currently serious teething issues at the restaurant, after my visit last night was nowhere near as slick as the opening day.

Firstly, most of the beers have been taken off the menu due to issues with the bottle sizes. As of yet, they have not been replaced - but it means there is no choice. The signature 'Sooper Looper Dish' was also unavailable last night. A man from the manufacturer was also in the restaurant watching - but the number of dishes sticking and needing a push from the stick was ridiculous and to be honest, just looked silly for guests.

I have to say that the experience last night, whilst good in terms of our food, was anything but the experience it ought to have been.

I suppose for lighter dishes they could add heavier pots to ensure it gets round, or grease the track.

Noticed lots getting stuck when I had a look in the door last weekend

I've always thought it odd that the food loop system (am guessing it's identical) doesn't have wheels on the little cars, just plastic runners.

Is the pathway straight to the restaurant just for hotel guests? I'm going with friends next week and have booked the Rollercoaster Restaurant for after ride close. It would be nice to be able to use the new pathway afterwards.

No, it's open for everyone, as you can exit the park after 5pm using the new pathway too! :)

That's very disheartening to read. The experience was so good on opening evening (when you would imagine things are most likely to go wrong) so I did not expect things to go downhill so soon. Hopefully this issues are resolved as soon as possible - having no beers available is extremely poor.

:)

Given how strict this country gets on ID and alcohol sales, it wouldn't surprise me if they've been told they cannot serve beer down a chute to anyone who presses a button! I doubt the booze will return.

Or you just do waited service for alcohol instead of sending it down the coaster.
