Alpine Coaster for Snowdonia

Fantastic to hear - the Welsh Government are really promoting adventure tourism currently, especially around North Wales. With this and the recent developments like Bounce Below and downhill biking centres, areas like Blaneau are starting to get on the map for the right reasons.

I'll be following this closely!

Wasn't blown away by the one in Bottrop so my only experience of these things isn't the best to recall, but I look forward to having one on our side of the water.

Bottrop wasn't all that wonderful, to be fair - it was decent, but not great. Think we only ended up doing it because we were in the area anyway, and decided we might as well give it a go. The Hasenhorn Rodelbahn near EP, on the other hand, is very good - I recommend it if you've got a bit of time spare and can get to it easily enough.

It'll be interesting to see what this one in Wales is like. It'll be an excuse to go to Wales for the first time in many years for me, too! :p

Oooh, I've never done one myself but only ever heard good things so this is exciting! Will certainly have to go and give it a try.

:)

Just a small update: I had the opportunity to meet the MD of Zip World and he confirmed that the alpine coaster will come under Treetop Adventures, another part of the Zip World group. Hopefully it might be around Betws y Coed, if they're wanting it near Treetop anyway; should be a fantastic addition for Snowdonia, especially with Adventure Tourism being the main economic driver for Wales in 2016, I wish them all the luck!

another quick update:

The domain name www.alpinecoasteruk.com expired a few months ago.
reports today from several Welsh online news sites say that Zip World today entered planning permission for an alpine coaster at their Bettws y coed site - that they claim will be the UK's first true alpine coaster

if this is so, its unlikely any alpine coaster will open in the UK this year. We'll all have to wait a little longer :-(

Hopefully this is still happening. I got the chance to ride the Hasenhorn Coaster at Todtnau last week and it was incredibly good fun, a real adrenaline rush. I understand that is somewhat longer than most alpine coasters though.

:)

This is about 15 minutes from my parents house, they are really pushing at developing the adventure / adrenalin market up there right now. It's great to see.

Zip World shared this photo earlier on in the week showing how their alpine coaster is progressing:

I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product!

:)

At £15 they can get stuffed.

I will not be going and paying that.
