Towers need to urgently do something about capacity on The Smiler, it was only running two trains yestersay. I'd imagine the two trains not in use were both having issues but two trains on a ride desgined to run five really is not ideal.
Pic or it didn't happen etc.

What did the wait time hit?

What did the wait time hit?

It was 60 minutes when we walked past but rose to 70 minutes later in the afternoon. Needless to say there was no chance of joining said queue; it moves slowly enough of three, never mind two! Oblivion however was walk on!

:)

Has anyone got a recording of the pre crash breakdown and reopen announcements?
Search smiler breakdown or something similar and YouTube and you will find some, as I have heard some in the past.

No idea if they have been edited much since the crash as I haven't seen it break down much this season when I have been in the queue.

Found some of the announcements, not sure if they're pre crash or not.

Also found the marmaliser and dispatch announcements on the a same channel

"And only 14 months after it crashed" - opening line from the BBC...urgh.
The Smiler rollercoaster at Alton Towers has broken down mid-ride - 14 months after it crashed leaving five people seriously injured.

Since when does a vertical lift hill go upside down? I'd love to know the M*rror's reasoning behind this.

Cure reports of people being terrified for their lives.
Who's betting the "falling debris" was someone's phone falling out of their pocket or likewise
Wouldn't surprise me one bit if it turned out to be something that fell out of someone's pocket.

You can sometimes see debris on the net that is draped over the queue such as sunglasses and Hairclips etc so more that likely is was something trivial, but they took safety precautions just in case with all the media attention (only to ironically get negative media coverage for doing so =p).

Im looking through all these news articles and comments on twitter, and thinking are these people stupid? It was only an evacuation, I cant quite believe what I'm reading this afternoon! And I'm disgusted that this is getting much more negative media already in a few hours than what M&D's have gotten in total.
