Portaventura advice

Right, off to Salou for a week at the end of September. I've got a 3 day ticket for PortAventura. You have to visit the park two days consecutive then you choose the other one, i'm going Wednesday to Wednesday and so wondered which of the days would be best to visit?

If I remember right the Spanish schools are fully back to school by mid-September so you will not have a problem with that, however it does mean that the weekends are likely to be significantly busier. Also note that the opening hours are fairly short, probably 10-6 or 10-7 on the weekdays, with longer opening hours at the weekend and there may also be a performance of FiestAventura on the weekend nights or possibly just Saturday which for me would be a must-see. It is also great to experience the coasters, particularly Stampida (makes it wilder), in the dark which may only be possible on the Saturday with the later opening hours.

With the above in mind I would make sure to include the Saturday in your plans, and have the two consecutive days as Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday, and then pick a quieter day to go back (Monday or Tuesday) at the start of the next week.

You may find www.portaventura.co.uk and www.pafans.com useful, and of course there is a wealth of knowledge on these boards too!

Ignore my previous advice about FiestAventura, it won't be showing during your visit - sorry about that! What I said still stands about late night rides however so make sure you include at least one weekend date in your plans, but like I said, any other day midweek is fine, with Friday possibly being a tad busier. :)

I should imagine so, but when we have visited over a weekend it wasn't noticeably busier either day, except we found Sunday late afternoon the park began to empty quite a way before closing.

You can buy PortAventura Express from the ticket windows, the Express booth just inside Mediterranea or the vending machines rather ironically located next to the queue time boards for each of the rides that have an Express entrance. Unlike Alton Towers though, you have to buy one ticket that includes 10 rides rather than being able to select individual rides. You can also get an unlimited version too.

If you want to sit in the front row of Shambhala or Dragon Khan you will probably need to buy the VIP add-on as they rarely allocate the front row to people that haven't paid for it!

Moved to trip planning :)
