I remember going to towers for FHT a couple of years ago and toadstool and frog hopper had disappeared. I hope it's just maintenance, but it's really no suprise at all if it's gone. Shame to lose a ride that's been there since the start, especially since it will leave fv with only two rides if sub terra doesn't return, and no filler attraction. It will be another loss to the to old for CBeebies, to young for th13teen group that's suffered so much this year, and will almost certainly have no replacement for the foreseeable future.

And Id just like to point out that towers said Ripsaw was dismantled for maintenance last year, even when it was seen on its way to hiede park.

I'm still keeping things evens at the moment regarding whether it stays or leaves Towers. Maybe a referendum is in order ;).

Safe to say, if we see the ride submerge in the car parks or it doesn't appear on the map, it's gone.

They've been wanting to get rid of The Blade for ages, it wouldn't surprise me if its now gone for good.

Anyone reckon they may have got rid of the op's cabin at least as early as the main bulk of the ride if it was getting removed permanently though? Also, some of the gear seems to have black rain covers on as if they may just be temporarily covered until other parts of the ride are returned to their original place. Another consideration is that some nerdy Towers employee may have already ripped any signage off the op's cabin etc to stick on their wall at home or put in their shed, or something.

Saying that, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it wasn't there at the start of next season.

The ride wouldn't be scrapped though. even if it leaves towers, it's going to be caniballised for black buccaneer or jolly rocker when it goes. they'd have to remove it carefully just like they did with Ripsaw which could explain the rain covers.

I'm finding it hard to believe that if they do remove it they won't install anything new!?

Is planning permission required in this area?

ummm merlin? someone's stole the boat
but...

its a bit drastic?!

Reminds me of times when you park your car in a car park, come back scratching your head thinking "I swore i parked the car there."

Was Blade and Ripsaw not due to leave for the original SW8 but both rides are getting old so it's no real surprise if they leave now it's just a shame that the next likely replacement is 4/5 years down the line with maybe SW9 instead of some desperately needed flats.

Perhaps they are making the way for SW9 to follow quickly on the heels of SW8? (exits to peels of laughter and derision).

This is getting beyond a joke!! What is going to be in forbidden valley for my 8 year old if Blade goes? Perhaps Merlin need to give me compensation for his MAP. We've visited AT loads this year and the poor lad has had little to go on as it is. (NOTE HE IS TOO OLD FOR CBEEBES LAND!!!!). I really hope it is just maintenance or even a replacement model or else questions need to be asked of AT and even more emails will be sent to Merlin.

I wouldn't bother too much with AT for kids who are between the age of 4 and 1.2 mtr tall/up for thrilling rides.

SW8 and Thirteen are billed as "Family", but there's a massive difference between these and Postman Pats parcel express. Many 5-10 year olds who are lucky enough to be tall enough would be terrified on the likes of Thirteen. That difference used to be the PROPER family rides that almost all the family could enjoy together. Blade, Charlie, Wobble world, the Flume and Toadstool (when it still had a sensible height restriction) used to be these almost completely universal WHOLE FAMILY attractions alongside RMT, Rapids, Duel and Enterprise.

Alton feels a very secular park now. The attractions are thinly spread and deeply separated between target markets. It's such a shame because when I was in that mid way age and height group in the late 80's and early 90's I had some of my happiest childhood memories there.

I totally agree, my younger brother loves Towers but is terrified of the bigger rides, so all that is left for him now is Duel, RMT, Barrels and the Twirling Toadstools. Worth £50? I don't think so.

My 6 year old daughter has been on Thirteen and Sonic but found them a bit too extreme. She has really out grown Cbeebies land now. So if Blade goes all she really has is...

RMT
Toadstool
Marauders Mayhem
Duel
River Rapids

It so poor :(
