PortAventura World: Ferrari Land

Would the same apply to someone who has no interest in The Smiler or Alton laughing about the accident?

The difference with that was the life changing injuries. I'm pretty sure had someone been badly burnt in this fire, no one would have made any jokes. In the same way I'm sure jokes would have been made had The Smiler incident not involved any people and had just been two empty carriages colliding. The idiocy and incompetence would have seemed almost funny.

Testing of the coaster is continuing:

Not quite at full speed yet I would guess but it's getting there.

:)

Well PA certainly got the launch noises right for this coaster, and I feel it still isn't at full speed yet either. That's two good things about Ferrari Land now.

Maybe the launch coaster will be th only thing open in Ferrari Land now after the fire.

Erm, so PA realised their new coaster was a bit crap so decided to change it....

Yep, they've added a 270 degree twist on the way down a la Kingda Ka and TTD! Perculiar to say the least, I was actually quite looking forward to (in relative terms) the big straight vertical drop down.

:)

I'm afraid that's actually a clever bit of photoshop. If you look closely you can see that the 270 degree twist features the old box style Intamin track as seen on TTD and Kingda Ka instead of the double spine track on the rest of the coaster.

The photo was uploaded on the 28th December, which I believe is the Spanish equivalent of April Fools Day?

Quite convincing though, I'll admit I fell for it as well at first! :p

Ferrari Land Tickets

Currently the only way to visit Ferrari Land is to buy a combined parks ticket, similar to Universal Orlando's system for purchasing tickets to the new Volcano Bay Waterpark, requiring a ticket to Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure to gain access. PortAventura CLUB Members and guests of the PortAventura Hotels will be able to purchase separate tickets for Ferrari Land as PortAventura Park and / or Caribe Aquatic Park are already included in their packages. I'm guessing this will be to reduce guest numbers when the Park opens due to its small footprint. The options that currently include entry to Ferrari Land are:
  • 1 Day 2 Parks (PortAventura Park + Ferrari Land) Hopper Ticket 60€
  • 2 Days 2 Parks (PortAventura Park + Ferrari Land) Hopper Ticket 70€
  • 3 Days 3 Parks (PortAventura Park + Caribe Aquatic Park + Ferrari Land) Hopper Ticket 95€
  • Resort Hotel Guests NA
  • PortAventura CLUB Members NA

Caribe Aquatic Park will close at 18:00hr out of season and 19:00hr during the Summer.

With regards to the opening times of Ferrari Land, this is the information being sent out to travel agents:

During the low season, the park will be open from 10:00-18:00. During the high season, the park will open for two daily sessions between the hours of 10:00-17:00 and 18:00-01:00.

Really? I find it strange that Ferrari Land would be open later than PortAventura Park? As PortAventura Park is always open the latest to allow Resort Hotel guests to walk to Hotel Gold River / Hotel The Callaghan's / Hotel Mansion De Lucy and or the hotels at the other side of the Parks.

It would seem PA are extremely conerned about the small capacity of Ferarri Land; what with no option to just visit that park, no free entry for hotel guests or annual pass holders (I assume that is what the PA Club is) and the possibility of two "sessions" during the peak season (I assume your ticket in this time would only be valid for one of the two timed sessions).

I am not surprised.

:)
