Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Thorpe Park have updated their website to state that the I'M A CELEBRITY... GET ME OUT OF HERE! Maze will be closed on the following dates during the coming season: Friday 31st March – Monday 1st May, Saturday 27th May – Sunday 4th June, and Friday 30th June – Monday 4th September.

Seems rather silly to close it during peak periods.
Those are the OPEN dates, no!?

Nope. Someone asked them on Twitter but Thorpe confirmed those are the closed dates.

Nevermind.
Just saw on Facebook:
Following yesterday's update on THORPE PARK Official's website, the Resort have amended the information to state that the I'M A CELEBRITY... GET ME OUT OF HERE! Maze will actually be open on the dates previously listed as when it would be closed during the 2017 season.

These dates are as follows: Friday 31st March – Monday 1st May, Saturday 27th May – Sunday 4th June, and Friday 30th June – Monday 4th September.

I really don't understand why they do these stupid things. Most of us want Merlin to be spending cash on theming, opening hours, entertainment, maintenance and upkeep, new developments etc. Yet they insist on wasting cash time and time again on short lived, labour heavy attractions.

In tertiary industries, payroll is often "the biggest controllable cost". It seems a no brainer that NST and Saw alive would close and celeb and Galactica would eventually be watered down due to high staffing costs. Who is making these ridiculous investment decisions? It seems like incompetent business practices to me.

Not exactly Thorpe Park related (well it almost isn't now)..

There was a half marathon that finished at Thorpe park and the medal included the Thorpe logo. Well it used to contain the logo until it was removed in a Trademark dispute with Thorpe. All the logos have been filed off to resolve the conflict.

I wonder if the issue was the medal includes a log flume and they didn't want to remind anyone they had one rusting away at the back of the park?;)

Update: Replaced FB link and rewrote the paragraph as I couldn't even English!

Trust Thorpe to not only cut the hours that I'm a Celeb is open, but they announce the complete opposite to what they intended XD

The predictability of Merlin is just.... brilliant. At least Sub Terra was in a different park to DBGT...

Merlin have an awful habit of building attractions that require larges numbers of staff to operate (Derren Brown, SAW Alive, I'm a Celebrity, Sub-Terra, Galactica, even The Smiler to an extent) yet love a good cost cut meaning that said attractions are just not sustainable in the long term.

Where is the logic or forward thinking from this major attractions operator?

:)

Haven't they announced that they don't care about long term investment? They only care about seeing an instant return on investments...? That makes sense given Sub Terra, Saw Alive and now I'm a Celeb...

That's also backed up by them saying that they'll no longer add filler attractions and they'll only build rides that'll be a world record or contain an IP.

Merlins creative department must be over flowing with talent.

I see that I'm a celeb has had some #MerlinBudgetCuts this season. Taken from the website:
"Please note: The I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Maze will be open on the following dates:

Friday 31st March – Monday 1st May 2017

Saturday 27th May – Sunday 4th June 2017

Friday 30th June – Monday 4th September 2017"

I give it another year and it will be gone! We all know how Saw Alive ended.
