TS York Bank Holiday Weekend: 29th April - 1st May 2017

I've just booked my LWV ticket through Attractiontix online for £20. Which saved me £2.50 booking free & you get one free ride queue jump pass

I've gone for the meal voucher - done enough rides on the others to be not all that bothered by fast track :p. I'm not sure if I'm going to do Jorvik or not at the moment, probably one for me to leave til a later date since I'm not far from the place anyway!

Few bits from moi:

Flamingo Land
We seem to have an even number who need 2for1's, and I'll have enough vouchers to cover. However, please ensure you arrive at the gates at 9:45am. Remember, if you're not travelling in an even number, there are other people relying on you getting there on time!

If you are going to be arriving late in an even number, then let me know beforehand as I can send over a voucher for your group.

Parking
As has already been mentioned, parking is very expensive in York, and the vast majority of streets around the centre are permit only. There's a few options for those of you staying, if your hotel car park is full/doesn't allow parking:
  • Council car parks - These are £2.50 per hour between 8.00am - 6.00pm, then an overnight flat rate of £2. This can work out pretty expensive, so do your sums and work out how long you're staying for! Council car parks take cash, some machines take card and all take PayByPhone (download the app and register beforehand to save hassle).
  • Park and Ride - There is no overnight parking at park and rides, so this is unlikely to be suitable for anyone.
  • NCP - Expensive as hell, avoid
  • Q-Park - There are 2 Q-Parks in York - Barbican (a little further out) and Shambles. Barbican is the cheapest of the two, and can actually work out substantially less than the council car parks. Standard walk up rate is £11 for 12 hours or £12 for 24 hours at Barbican. The downside is you can't take your car out on the same ticket, so you'd either have to buy multiple ones or this is only suitable if you're leaving the car in York for the weekend/staying just the one night. You can prebook on their website at:
    • £10.20 for 24 hours
    • £30.60 for a weekend (3pm Friday until 10am Monday
    • You can also book specific times on the website, and the code above gives you a discount on this too
Use the code WAVE15 when booking to bring the cost down to the above prices. Enter the code and click apply, you won't get a confirmation the code is right, but the prices will be discounted on the next page.

Friday
If anyone is arriving on the Friday rather than arriving Saturday, then us northerners will be around having a few drinks from around midday, with a few others arriving in the evening. Just drop me a message on FB or ring me if you want to meet up.

After Newcastle being such a laugh, I'm really looking forward to another meet (and nice short drive for me!) up north. See you at the weekend :D

Just got back, having left Scheißewaßer early then got caught in epic traffic on the M1.

Was a spiffing meet, guys. Mingo continues to improve in every way - bar actual ride operations - every time I visit... Just as LWV continues a downward spiral in to the lower depths of hell. Were it not for the Ultimate no sane person would set foot in the place.

Good to see several new converts to the Cultimate.

York is a nice town, and with over 350 bars / pubs within the city walls, we will have to return to finish of the crawl we barely scratched the surface of. I have a new fave cocktail: "Shed Seven": 7 diferent types of rum, and absynth! :D

Thanks to @Kelpie for her wonderfull driving skills for 545 miles. And to anyone who bought me a drink. Or had to put up with me drunk.

Many good times were had. Se ya in Brappool.
... PS: Mingoland is NOT a good park for hangovers.
