SeaWorld Orlando: General Discussion

I seriously hope that was a joke as it's ridiculous on so many levels.

At least we can agree on PETA anyway :)

Anyway on another note, due to high popularity and the park being very busy the Seven Seas food festival has been extended to both Saturdays and Sundays for the rest of its run.

Animals that have been kept together in artificial surroundings for many years are generally better kept in those artificial surroundings, in long term groups, and tend to live longer because of a lack of natural predation and risks, and veterinery support.
Animals tend to live shorter but happier lives in the wild, where they should be.
The answer to an environmentally screwed up planet is not to lock animals in small spaces.
I don't read PETA stuff, I've been wary of them for many decades, most of the stuff I've read has been on theme park websites, the font of all knowledge, and the odd broadsheet.

Fair enough, that was a reasonable post actually. I'm not here to tell you what to think or believe but we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I'm sure we'll both be back at it in this thread before too long :p

Really hoping this flops massively. I dread to think how long the queue is going to be, operations were poor at best on Kraken during my previous visits.

:)

The park are implementing a virtual queue system that will be free of charge to all guests.

Nursery is coming along nicely now as well:

This an awful idea and I can't be bothered with it. Mako was AMAZING without a doubt, but I believe Galactica demonstrates that V.R on a rollercoaster doesn't work (IMO). Kraken is a fantastic ride with lots of twists and turns and to throw a goggle on and block out the view, I feel, will take away from that thrill.

In other news, I'm waiting to see if the Drayton Manor incident has any bearing at all on Infinity Falls and any potential safety features in the planning.

I doubt there will be any impact on Infinity Falls following on from what has happened at Drayton. The larger rapids rides in Florida tend to have some form of seat belt anyway so chances are Infinity Falls will as well.

:)

The park have unveiled some rather good annual passholder benefits for the month of June:

1)Exclusive preview of Kraken Unleashed before it opens to the public.
2)Free Quick Queue to use on Mako to celebrate the ride's first anniversary month.
3)Free reserved seating at Shamu's Celebration: Light Up the Night
4)Kraken Unleashed will be available 1 hour early every Tuesday and Saturday throughout the summer just for annual passholders.

I love how SeaWorld treats their passholders and I really wish we could get the same sort of customer service from Merlin!

Aren't Figment doing the VR on Kraken? I have no more to add if so!

:)

Very different markets. Merlin almost has a monopoly in the UK on theme parks, when you already have the busiest parks you don't need to retain your annual passholders and get them coming back often.

In Florida the SeaWorld group has the lowest attendance of the larger operators, Harry Potter at Universal has taken a lot of guests away from SeaWorld and also of course the discussions on animal welfare put a small number of guests off. Therefore SeaWorld want their passholders back as often as possible to keep the parks looking busy to day ticketholders.

There have been rumours of that but no confirmation as of yet. It is a similar system to Galactica even if it isn't figment.

As for the treatment of passholders, I agree with everything said above, I just wish we could get the same out of Merlin. As SeaWorld pivots to a reigonal Busch Gardens Tampa formula of thrill rides and animals, annual passholders will become even more important to them. The extortionate prices of Disney & Universal really has opened a space in the market for SeaWorld & Busch Gardens as cheaper alternatives for locals.

I know, I've had a pass for years. The ERT isn't really a passholder exclusive, it's available to everyone as long as you know what to say :p
The £5 fastrack vouchers are only available as part of a "Premium" pass.
Merlin's launch events are generally badly organised and thought out, the Galactica preview sold out in minutes during normal work hours, there are much better ways of doing previews that other parks use such as opening the ride for an entire day(s) just for passholders before they open to the public or having exclusive ride time for passholders after the attraction has opened.

I do think some of the Merlin pass benefits are good, the 20% off F&B is great, but the other more 'exclusive' benefits are generally poorly thought out and managed.

Anyway, this is wildly off topic now!
