Fun Spot Kissimmee 2017: Gravity Group Woodie

Fun Spot have announced that their Kissimmee park (the one with the big ass sky coaster) will be getting a new wooden coaster in 2017 from the Gravity Group. The coaster will feature one inversion, a barrel roll.

Ride Specifications:
  • Track Length: 2256 feet
  • Lift Height: 82 feet
  • First Drop: 80.5 feet
  • Maximum Bank Angle: 115 degrees
  • 11 different air times
  • Top Speed: 48.5 MPH

Excellent news and it looks like a really fun coaster! Interesting that they have gone with Gravity Group this time as opposed to GCI. Maybe they wanted an inversion and GCI were not prepared to offer one at this stage.

2017 is certainly the year of smaller scale woodies in the USA!

So Mine Blower is due to open on Thursday and the first test run took place a couple of evenings ago. Gravity Group have released this POV from one of the first (if not the first) test runs:

Rode it once in 2018 and once again last September. Thoroughly unpleasant both times.

Given the fact the whole support structure is already steel and not wood though, is this going to be the first hybrid coaster to be converted to a steel one? 😂

I think Twisted Twins to Storm Chaser may have been a hybrid to steel conversion. Twisted Twins had steel supports, if I’m remembering correctly.

I just checked, and you are correct.
