Do Blue Fire, Whale Adventure hardly ever has a queue. Then you can hop on the EP Express and get a timed ticket if the queue for Voletarium is too long. There's not much advantage in hiking across to the opposite end of the park first thing just for Voletarium when there's timed tickets available for it, best take advantage of the ERT on Blue Fire.
 
When I was there 2 weeks ago at peak time, there were still Voletarium tickets available at mid day.

As a contingency plan, if you were thinking if having bratwurst for lunch, go to Walters next door to Voletarium and buy a meal. That way you get a timed ticket that is valid on the day of purchase for any time you want. I did this a few times and the food was very good.

Interesting Graeme, I now have an excuse to eat more Bratwurst. I'd buy more fastpass if they came with sausage and beers.
 
I'd suggest doing Blue Fire at 8:30 and getting to the other side of the park pretty sharpish. Get a timed ticket for Voletarium, then do Volo Da Vinci before 9am. Other rides in Italy tend to not get much of a queue so you can do these whenever, as with Whale Adventures.

Once the ropes drop, head to Pegasus, Poseidon, Matterhorn Blitz and Schweizer Bobbahn. These rides usually get a big queue during the day and are often < 10 minutes in the morning! Whilst lots of other rides do get big queues, they always move VERY fast and most are incredibly well themed, so they are nice to be in. Only the older rides have big cattlepens.

Fair point but my girlfriend is vegetarian so I'll have to double up. It's a burden but I'll do it solely for timed tickets ;)

Hi.

For my first visit to Europa-Park later this year I've booked flights from Stanstead to Karlsruhe (Baden-Baden) and then plan to take the train to Ringsheim.

Are taxis available from outside Ringsheim station?

I ask as final check-in at the apartment we have booked in Rust is 8.00pm and if I wait at Ringsheim for the 7231 shuttle bus this will drop off at Europa-Park at 7.48pm which is cutting it fine.

Not sure if you've tried, but sometimes the check-in times in Rust can be more flexible than stated on the website. We've contacted hotels in the past and arranged later check ins without too much fuss. Just an idea, if you're worried as it sounds like even if your flight was slightly delayed you'd be close to the cut-off.

As @venny says, if you contact the owner of the apartment they are usually happy enough to allow a delayed check-in. After all you are the ones giving them your money! We stayed at Bella Vita last week, with check-in from 4pm-8pm and didn't end up turning up until 9:30pm due to delayed flights. :)

Which apartment are you staying in?

We are staying at Pension Marianna, and as suggested I guess we can contact them closer to the time if we will look to be arriving later than 8.00pm.

The other hurdle is arriving at Ringsheim Bahnhof on a Saturday evening the buses leave 17:35 & 19:38. With our train arriving in between these times it'll mean waiting around for an hour, so that's why I was thinking of getting a taxi.

A popular choice at the moment! Just down the road from where we stayed. Expect a 15 minute walk to the park entrance as it's on the outskirts of Rust. :)

The buses will turn up earlier than the time specified, which is when it will leave. So you will have time to sort out payment etc.
 
When you buy a Europa Park annual pass does your 12 months begin when you complete the transaction online or when the pass is actually printed at the park?

When it is printed. I believe you have 6 months to collect it at the park after you purchase. :)

Don't think it's been mentioned but it looks like ticket prices are out for 2018 with an adult one day rising by €2.50 to €49.50 and the Clubcard rising by €5 to €200.
 
Just back from 3 days at EP and the way to buy 3day tickets of you are staying off site has changed slightly. Not sure if it's been mentioned earlier in the thread, couldn't see anything.

You can no longer buy a 3day ticket from the manned kiosks. Instead you have to buy a two day ticket then at the end of your second day go to guest services by the exit turnstiles and buy a third day upgrade at a reduced rate. For 2017 the 3rd day is is €41.50 so it works out €130pp for 3 days.
 
Just a little..... Hardest part after a day on park and a few beers in the sunshine is remembering to actually go to guest services to get the discounted tickets....
 
We are thinking of going on the Monday (18th) and will then be in EP Tues and Wednesday. If this is before you plan to go and we do end up going I will let you know my thoughts. Although this might be a little last minute to your plans.
